New Yankee 9: The Evil Spellbook Collector's Edition is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every level is different and oh such fun. Each time one of these games comes out I think, surely it can't get any better, but they do. Without giving away too much you save dragons, sheep, rescue workers turned in to pigs and so on.. There is so much going on here and even mini games as a side line which is totally up to you if you want to do. I am fortunate enough to have played the whole game and believe me it does not disappoint. The write up here says 17 bonus levels but I could only find 10 unless they are including the mini games. The bonus levels you get once you have all the jigsaw pieces. The only strange thing is I got to the 8th Bonus level then could not find any more but according to the strategy guide I was 2 levels short. I did at first play on the relaxed level so maybe you get the extra ones on a harder level? I am not sure re that. There are also 15 CE levels plus a worthy strategy guide so if you can, get the CE, it is well worth it. So now all I have to say is bring on number 10

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was fun! I've tried a couple of the Yankee games, but never really got past the demos. This one encouraged me to try it based on the stellar reviews, and of all the ones in the series I've played, this was definitely the best. I don't know much about the characters (Mary came as a surprise, since the other Yankees I've played didn't include her) or their prior adventures, but the story was not hard to pick up. It was a real trip to bounce around between Camelot, ancient Greece, and ancient Egypt. The cast is great, the humor in the writing is engaging, and the graphics are bright and colorful. The music and sound effects were repetitious, but not irritatingly so. The choice of modes is always nice, as I sometimes don't feel up to the challenge of a timer and find the relaxed mode to be more to my tastes. I wasn't too keen on some of the mini-games included. The 'Flying Dutchman' episodes were a little difficult to play on my laptop, and the 'tournament' ones were just odd. But I liked the pirate mini-games based on the game Battleship, and the bonus levels were very enjoyable. On the whole, this was a worthwhile purchase and a nice long game, and I definitely encourage TM fans to try it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cart before the Horse! I love the new Yankee series and play them over and over. This one however, has a very annoying problem. The sawmill, or gold factory and sometimes the mill are at the END OF THE LEVEL.... What good does it do to have to wait until the end of the level to manufacture the wood or food or gold. This is NOT FUN and it doesn't make the game challenging... it just makes it irritating. I played this CE edition through twice to see if I was being ultra critical and no... I was not. For example. Level 37 - I played entirely without the sawmill as it was not available until the last 30 seconds of the game.. so who needs it? Otherwise the graphics are pretty much the same. The portals were a nice edition instead of losing buildings (or bridges) once they are built as in previous editions. Many of the level layouts were from the older games so I didn't think this was clever but found it to be a cop-out to developing new and interesting scenes. Might as well have sent our hero to the moon... hey ... now that's an idea.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So disappointed... To make a long story short : I regret buying this game. I played it in expert mode, and there was zero challenge. This series is not the most challenging one, but the previous episodes were way most interesting than this one. I only had to replay 4 ou 5 levels to get 3 stars. Way too easy ! Very disappointing game in expert mode.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from My Favorite Series,..but this one runs very slow I'm so disappointed,. I love, love, love this series of games, but this one runs very, very slow :( Any ideas on how to fix this? I have all of the other games in this series, I play them over and over, this one is so slow I couldn't make it through the first level:(
