New Yankee 9: The Evil Spellbook Collector's Edition is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't go wrong I don't usually review games but felt I needed to here. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The graphics, the challenge, the story...all were great! This is one series that never gets boring. Thanks to the developers for their ingenuity and for giving us excellent games. It's appreciated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Outstanding Addition to a Quality Series I am continuously amazed at the creativity of the developers of the New Yankee series of games. The scenes are beautiful, detailed and continually evolving, and the background music is the perfect accompaniment. The storyline continues to remain interesting, and the characters are both consistent and charming. And game play itself continues to evolve in ways that are incredibly creative while remaining true to expectations for the series. The developers have broken the code when it comes to consistently turning out high quality games that time management fans embrace. Is it wrong to say I can't wait for New Yankee 10? Brava to the team for another outstanding game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They've done it again! I don't know how they manage it. Every one of these games is a ton of fun with a lot of silliness and sarcastic characters. This one does seem a little bit slower than the others, but not enough to make any difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Welcome back Yankees! When I first started playing New Yankee, I didn't like it. To me, it was too slow and too difficult. This was back when I first started playing TM/Strategy games. As I became more proficient with this type of game, I went back and downloaded the first New Yankee. I found it was not as bad as I had originally thought. After playing that game, I downloaded each and every subsequent New Yankee game. So, I was really happy to see this new edition appear on Game of the Day. I didn't even try it; I bought it immediately. And, I have not been disappointed. The game can be quite challenging, which to me, is part of the fun with these type of games. But, the challenge is not so much that it is impossible to achieve gold on each level (I did have to play a number of levels several times but was eventually able to get the gold). Love the graphics! Sometimes, I will let the time run just so that I can look at the graphics. Sometimes, there is a little bunny, or hedgehog, or porcupine moving around. Love how they have added things like John blowing up mushrooms before the level begins. Really cute! I have not been disappointed in purchasing this game. The only disappointment is I now have to wait so long for the next New Yankee game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE FOLKS! I'd love to be able to have a conversation with the scriptwriters of New Yankee who, in my opinion, have an incredible sarcastic sense of humor! There are very few Time Management games nowadays that have a story that is interesting enough to read, but 9 games running New Yankee still has me rolling on the floor...and 9 games later the graphics are still improving by leaps and bounds above the competition, (some aren't even in the same league) and 9 games later this developer is still able to come up with exciting tasks, interesting spells, and level layouts that are unusual, bright and extremely colorful. The entertainment factor is through the roof on this game, this is 100% quality! You can play in a Relaxed, Normal, or Expert Difficulty Mode, and there are 42 Achievement Trophies to earn. There are 60 Levels (45 Main Levels, 15 CE Levels, and 10 Bonus Levels) but only 32 Hidden Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces to search for. As you progress, you are given the option to choose between Bonuses that will help you with the tougher levels by allowing Mary to Walk and Cast Spells Faster, John to Walk and Fight Faster or help Max the dog to Run Faster, or at least as fast as his poor little short bulldog legs can move. Like most TM games, you must gather resources and clear paths, such as, gathering food baskets and farming veggie gardens, gathering wood logs, clearing tree stumps (which also have other resources) cutting down trees, gathering gold bags, clearing boulders, patching holes, cutting down toothy plants and weeds, repairing bridges, and constructing or repairing sawmills, or mills to produce more food, workers houses, etc. The workers do almost everything, John is the Knight in Shining Armor and does the fighting, Mary is skilled in Witchcraft and takes care of Casting all the Spells which instantly regrow trees that have been cut down, or construct Altars that magically speed up the process by restocking food sources and even conjure up Bridges, but she needs a constant supply of Mana that needs to be collected by the workers from the Mana Wells or from an occasional bottle abandoned along the paths, to work her magic. John and Mary have their hands full as they battle Toothy plants in a Little Shop of Horrors scenario. There's a ton of things to do, gather mirror shards, take a trip on the Flying Dutchman and gather feathers, collect Puzzle Pieces, Gremlins to help you make items in workshops, and lots of spells to cast. This Collector's Edition version has 45 Main Levels, 15 CE Levels, 10 Bonus Levels, 10 Music Soundtracks, 34 Cinematics, 4 Wallpapers, 6 Character Bios, a Jigsaw Puzzle (with 32 Collectible Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces), an Upgrade Room (with an available Screenshot), and a Built-in Strategy Guide NEW YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT SERIES LIST Title***Collector's Edition Release Date***Average Rating 1-New Yankee In King Arthur's Court 1 SE only (May 7-2012) 3.9 2-New Yankee In King Arthur's Court 2 SE only (January 30-2013) 4.2 3-New Yankee In King Arthur's Court 3 SE only (December 24-2013) 3.5 (Santa's Service Christmas Edition) 4-New Yankee In King Arthur's Court 4 CE (December 19-2017) 4.3 5-New Yankee In King Arthur's Court 5 CE (April 10-2018) 3.8 6-New Yankee In Pharaoh's Court 6 SE only (September 12-2018) 4.9 7-New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters SE only (January 25-2019) 4.4 8-New Yankee 8: Journey of Odysseus CE (May 23-2020) 4.5 9-New Yankee 9: The Evil Spellbook CE (November 7-2020) n/a by: Yustas Games

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic ! As Always! I bought this without the trial because I knew it would be awesome and it didn't disappoint. Some of the recent releases from different Dev's could learn alot from the way this was executed and developed. Great on every level with a few new things thrown in. Challenging and much much more than a standard TM game. Well done !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A winner every time I bought this game right away this morning because I knew it would be good and it did not disappoint. It's a fun game with many things to do and is one of the better TM games. IMO. Mary and John are back along with all the other little characters including Max the dog. I have all of the Yankee games and they just get better and better each time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many games and still a total winner again. Well done! I dont think I have ever given less than a 'love it' rating to this series, and even with so many games under their belt this developer continues to delight, surprise and mix it up so each game is like a new experience on a journey with old friends. The gang is all here..John, fighting off foe, this time with a 'hot sword' obtained from an anvil. Mary is casting her spells when you collect her enought mana, and Max the dog is here getting rid of nasty plants and this time 'sniffing' stones to get rid of them. The gremlin helper is here too..but this time he has a laboratory to make various items needed. This one is a little more 'fairy tale' than some of the others, with book monsters, toothy plants, and mirror shards to collect. You will travel around in 'The flying Dutchman' from place to place, and it is also the minigame you will play steering it through the clouds collecting feathers. Its all beautifully animated, colourful and cute. But your need for strategy hasn't changed. There are also the familiar, gold piles to mine, trees to chop, houses and buildings to complete and staff with your workers. I just love this one. It has everything you want in a quality TM. There are three modes, expert, normal and relax. There are achievements, wallpapers, bio's of the characters, and a strategy guide that shows the 'puzzle pieces' circled on it. It is accessable from the ? on each level. If you mouse over your map it shows which levels have peices and if you have collected them. The guide also gives tips on 'best' gameplay. I counted 45 regular levels, ten bonus levels and 15 CE levels marked on the guide. So its good CE value as well. Just a delight in my book, but try the demo, I dont think it will disappoint even if you have played this TM through the years and done many. Well done dev's! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every level is different and oh such fun. Each time one of these games comes out I think, surely it can't get any better, but they do. Without giving away too much you save dragons, sheep, rescue workers turned in to pigs and so on.. There is so much going on here and even mini games as a side line which is totally up to you if you want to do. I am fortunate enough to have played the whole game and believe me it does not disappoint. The write up here says 17 bonus levels but I could only find 10 unless they are including the mini games. The bonus levels you get once you have all the jigsaw pieces. The only strange thing is I got to the 8th Bonus level then could not find any more but according to the strategy guide I was 2 levels short. I did at first play on the relaxed level so maybe you get the extra ones on a harder level? I am not sure re that. There are also 15 CE levels plus a worthy strategy guide so if you can, get the CE, it is well worth it. So now all I have to say is bring on number 10
