Travel Mosaics 13: Spectacular Amsterdam is rated 1.7 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Like This Rebirth Yay! I’m happy! I really love “Travel Mosaics” series as well as the Walker family, and I was looking forward to the next game for really long time (it’s been almost 8 months since the 12th part was released). And finally it’s here! The game changed its format. And I worried about this after reading previous reviews, and decided to try the demo first and sort things out. Are the changes for better or worse? I think, mostly, for better. Good changes: - More tiles to select. Now we have 12 versions for tiles and 12 versions for empty spots for all tastes. That’s much more and much better than it was, I like it! - Calm and beautiful music and SFX. The previous games had funny and nice but sometimes distracting melodies. New music is just perfect! - Animated graphics. It looks wonderful! - No more formal descriptions of tourist attractions (book icon in previous games). Now the Walkers themselves tell us interesting facts about different locations combining it with jokes. I like to read dialogues more than descriptions, so that’s a good change for me! - New mode – Zen mode. Playing “Travel Mosaics” I always selected “difficult” mode, though in other games I often play “Zen” mode. I’m glad that now I can do the same here, too! - Names of the pictures\levels. Mostly the nonograms in “Travel Mosaics” series are easily recognizable. But sometimes the level names are very useful. Neutral changes (for me): - No puzzle levels. I loved some types of puzzles, and it was funny to distract and solve them. But others I just skipped. So… their absence is not that bad! The main thing that there are still 140 nonogram levels which I love much more! - No quiz questions. It was educational part of the game (now the dialogues do the same thing) which I never used. I just try do no mistakes (quiz questions appeared after more than 2 mistakes). So, I don’t care about this change! - No trophy room. Just never liked it. Conclusion: mostly the changes are for better. Yes, the game looks a bit unusual. But amazing atmosphere, favorite characters, interesting and logic based nonograms getting harder after first few levels are still there! Try the game and see yourselves!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some things just keep getting better I have always loved this game and when I read the 1 star review I got worried but I tried it out and I still love it. I am pretty much an expert in mosaics and I now use zen mode always. It makes you think and it won't let you make a mistake and finish the level. Zen is not for the amateur but the exceptional player who loves mosaics. There are still the lesser difficulties if needed. Have fun. I will.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Was my Most Favourite Game This game is only okay; it's not nearly as much fun or as informative as the previous versions. It's always been my favourite and I was so happy to be able to play this one now that I've upgraded my computer. In my opinion, this was not a good change. I'm very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No puzzles! What a disappointment. It's like they renamed Legendary Mosaics, which concept I didn't like: just nonograms and too much talk after completing each group of 10. Unless they change it back to normal, I won't be buying it anymore.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's now just like Legendary Mosaics I don't know why you changed the format of the game. I really enjoyed playing the puzzle, answering a question if I made too many mistakes and the special puzzle at the end of each chapter, as well as, making the hint tools more powerful and the decorations for the room that you could buy when you got enough tokens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Greatly Disappointed I loved this series and purchased this as soon as I got it. I HATE the changes that have been made to the game. This is now like any other. I don;t mind the change in the narrative by the Walkers, but I do miss the second chances by answering the questions and purchasing additional hints. The game has a "kindergarden look" to me. I will do a trial on future games and, it they are like this, will not be purchasing them. I am GREATLY DISAPPOINTED!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No puzzles! Very disappointed in Travel 13 No puzzles I always look so forward to the 10th games of the series because it is a puzzle. Miss it sooooo much. If they don't come back, probably won't get it again. The puzzles were extra special about this game of mosaics

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kathie5150 Very Disappointed. Travel Mosaics was my favorite game but I don't hardly recognize this game! No mini puzzles and very little challenge. Please go back to the original format.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A change but not for the better. I bought this without trying the demo, as I have all the other Travel Mosaics games and love them. What a huge disappointment :-( The whole look and feel of the game has changed beyond recognition; it now just seems like an endless procession of mosaics with nothing to break up the monotony. Even worse, the puzzle at the end of every 10 levels has gone; it's been replaced by endless facts about whatever part of Amsterdam the family happen to be in. The mosaics themselves are as bright and colourful as ever, with 4 levels including a 'Zen' mode (I think the penguins have exerted their influence here!). Gameplay-wise it's pretty much the same but has lost the fun and imagination of it's predecessors. I can't understand why the developer would change a game so drastically when the previous games were so popular. Like the other reviewers have said, I won't be buying any more of this series if it continues in this vein. There's an old but true saying...."if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the same So excited to see this arrive. Bought it right away. Only to find no purchases for hints or decorations. Very boring.
