Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession Collector's Edition is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning, but not flawless! Whoever was behind the design of the environment and the items deserves a medal. This game is GORGEOUS, I would absolutely love to visit a real life version of the house depicted in the game. The color scheme, the little bits of magic that lets you know something isn't quite right here, it is pulled off excellently and I want to give huge credit for that. Also, the story is very good! I love the opportunities for choices that change the game, and I would say that adds a level of replayability that more than makes up for the comparatively shorter game in comparison to others in the genre. Plus, the HOPs are clever and I love the way they were made unique. And the voice actor for Curioso is fantastic. I do have a couple little nitpicks though: 1: The fully computer made art works perfectly for almost everything, but it does not work for the human character's faces in motion. If in the future, the human characters were played by real life actors as a base, and then altered via computer so as to look more in line with the art of the world, I think it would work significantly better with getting the player emotionally invested in the story and it's characters. 2: There is not nearly enough red herrings in the HOPs. If someone can solve your HOP without even having a list of items to look for, like I did, somethings up. For a satisfying HOP solve, you need a truly cluttered image, and a heck of a lot more possible items than the amount of items needed. Look back at old MCF games HOPs, the original Ravenhearst, Prime Suspects, 13th Skull, for an idea of what to go for. There is a reason old MCF is beloved. You don't have to go quite as difficult as they did, I'd love if you did but you don't have to, but you absolutely should go more in that direction. 3: Other than the stained glass window, the game is extremely localized. All problems in a scene had solutions in the next one or two scenes, and there was never really a reason to go back to completed scenes. Which is a real shame, because like I said before, these environments are gorgeous. I wouldn't at all mind having to revisit and look closer at some of these places, especially the screen outside of the house, which is stunning. It makes the game feel predictable and easy, which is not ideal when playing on hard mode. 4: This is just a personal thing that I love, less general, but I would really appreciate more secret and hidden aspects of the game. Having the "collectible items and puzzle pieces" tab always right there, always knowing there'll be two morphs and one puzzle piece in each scene, takes all the fun out of it for me. Having some element, even a small and simple one like the Hidden Eye achievement in Phantasmat, that is really hidden is so much fun. 5: I like the presentation of the books as a 3 part story, but when the third book is just one HOP and no story elements at all, I feel cheated. If it were in the "extras" tab, or really anywhere that doesn't give the player the impression that it will be a chapter on par with the main game or bonus chapter, I think it could work better. All that being said, I'm glad GRandMA is making games, and I can't wait to see how you guys progress! If you need a beta tester, my twitter handle is @saltysappho and I'm always up for providing some in depth critique!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality I really liked the fact that you could pick HOS or Puzzles or a balance of both at the very beginning of the game. I am not a big fan of puzzles so this was great. I enjoyed playing this game and one of the reasons why is I did not have to go back and forth and three scenes down or something to collect what was needed. Most things collected were in the scene and interacted in the same room. The colors were vivid and the voice overs matched the mouths moving and clear. *Spoiler alert* I will admit, however, one of the characters' story is anticlimactic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Purchase Worth Having for Future Replay After finishing the game the first time, I'll make different ones next time to see how much the story changes. There's a ton of reviews already so I'll make it short. It's certainly a 5-star game, fun & intriguing with the choices I had to make. There's no doubt GrandMA Studios is certainly one of the best in the hidden-object arena.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game I really enjoyed this game , it was different from the cookie cutter games that we have been getting, it doesn't have the same old magnet, coin for screwdriver, shape after shape to open things and it had a decent story line, try out the whole demo before deciding. Thank you to the Dev's!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of Fun Well written, three mysteries to solve involving collectors who have stepped over the moral line into the hands of the master manipulator. A client who has been involved leads The Detective into their life stories and an opportunity for redemption of a sort. And then, the client - can he be redeemed as well? And then, the villain... Pros: graphics are terrific and in places truly spectacular, color saturated but appropriate to the theme, excellent music, good to excellent voice acting. The player gets to choose which emphasis he/she prefers between mostly puzzles, half and half puzzles and HO scenes, or mostly HO scenes, which lends high replay value. This is a wonderful innovation. Stories are well plotted, especially the second one, which contains a resolution that was to me truly a surprise. Plenty of game play, unusual these days. Cons: not much. Some of the mini games were perhaps a bit too easy, but most were well within reasonable difficulty for an intermediate level player. One painting puzzle required a bit of trial and error - a clue there might have been useful. Plot fell off a bit and then came back as the focus went toward the villain. Bonus Game: two, really. The first involves who the villain really was and how he/she came to be in the state we see. The second, very brief, told us the later histories of the principals, all of them. And gave us a hit that The Detective's relatives...are not entirely safe... Overall, a wonderful game that gives full value. I can't really fault it for not being long enough just because I didn't want it to stop. Well done, GrandMa!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best in a while Thoroughly enjoyed playing the game. A definite buy. One bug I found. In chapter 2 if you solve the picture puzzle over the bed before cutting the stitches on the bed, game over. Couldn't access the bed again. Had to start over. You can't reset a chapter. Enjoyed playing the game so much that I really didn't mind restarting it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHISPERED SECRETS #12 IS THE BEST GAME OF 2020!!! Over the years, Whispered Secrets has slowly but surely become one of my HOPA favorite series. In each Whispered Secrets story, GrandMA Studios expertly crafts a beautifully haunting tale of drama and tragedy, which is often backed by the studio’s signature creative game mechanics and stellar production and this edition, Whispered Secrets 12: Morbid Obsession is an EXCELLENT example why I really love this series! Right from the beginning, Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession hooks you in with its captivating gameplay. The game’s fast and consistent pacing adds a sense of urgency that is then magnified by its memorable villain Curioso and his obsession for collecting souls. During your investigation you must match wits against Curioso to help several obsessed Collector's redeem themselves from the terrible decisions they have made or Curioso will keep their souls for his own obsessed desire; which is to keep these Collector's trapped in his mansion forever! Another fascinating element to this story is that rarely ever in the world of HOPA is the player allowed to directly control the direction of the storyline. In the past, we have gotten multiple games in which we can select our response to certain conversational questions, but whichever choice we choose often leads to the same outcome. However, this game really allows your selection to affect the outcome. This not only makes the game even more engaging and adds to its complexity, but amps up its replayability as well. This, combined with some stellar hidden object scenes and enjoyable puzzles turns Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession into a supremely entertaining psychological adventure full of creativity and quirky objectives. Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession would not have been this effective if not for its outstanding production. The game’s gothic color scheme is balanced out by some bright, eye-popping details. Each visual element is meticulously designed with expertise and care, which is evident through the highly-detailed artwork, precise and creative scene layout, and bar-raising animations. Similarly, the game also excels in the audio department. From the sound effects to the background music and the voice-overs – all components are simply flawless. Whether Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession is worth the Collector’s Edition purchase and should not even be a question since it is probably one of the very best games of 2020. Firstly, you can replay the game for a different outcome as previously mentioned. Furthermore, there is also a bonus chapter that is just as exciting as the main game, along with a mini-size hidden chapter. Lastly, there is a good deal of traditional bonus items, including a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, cutscenes, replayable hidden object scenes, replayable mini-games, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects. I highly recommend this game to players of every level. Cheers! Also in this Series: Whispered Secrets: The Story of Tideville Whispered Secrets: Into the Beyond Whispered Secrets: Into the Wind Whispered Secrets: Golden Silence Whispered Secrets: Everburning Candle Whispered Secrets: Song of Sorrow Whispered Secrets: Forgotten Sins Whispered Secrets: Enfant Terrible Whispered Secrets: Cursed Wealth Whispered Secrets: Dreadful Beauty Whispered Secrets: Morbid Obsession

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GrandMa Did an Excellent Job on This Game I'm typically not the biggest fan of this developer, but they really did an outstanding job on this game. The selection of balance between adventure modes is a big plus. The artwork was beautifully done and, most importantly, the story itself was engrossing. A lot of these games, recently, have felt like a series of puzzles/hogs with a bit of story wrapped around them. That was not the case here. I highly recommend it, but as always, I suggest a trial as everyone has different tastes.
