Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Game!! Among the better games I've played during my nine months of solitary confinement due to the pandemic. Recommended!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A brilliant detective story! Great puzzles, superb visuals, a brilliant soundtrack, and a very smart and fun detective story with some horror/ thriller elements thrown in for good measure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fangs A Lot As others have noted this is a perfect Halloween game. I love this series and where else would one expect a plague of vampirism more than Budapest? Aspiring investigator Agatha has called in The Detective to assist her in solving a sanguinary crime involving, in part, her brother (note: never be the relative of a budding detective. Only bad things happen.) Pros: excellent graphics. As always with the Dark City games I was left wanting more exterior shots of a beautiful city. The ones on hand are very, very nice. Spooky atmosphere enhanced by some wonderful music. Engaging plot - is this real vampirism, or fake, or both? And if so, why? Agatha's complaint that women aren't allowed to be detectives is met by the fact that they can, and they can also be damsels in distress, and...and villains. Which will it be? Some nice references to vampiric lore - Inspector Helsing, indeed. Add Agatha's brother's cat Lester to the mix, a not-quite-assistant who turns up at opportune times. Cons: some minor annoyances. The sound is a little unbalanced as The Detective's voice comes booming out of speakers at a stentorian volume. Agatha's accent is from that part of Budapest that is closest to the American midwest, apparently. No one attempted a Hungarian accent, probably fortunately as Bela Lugosi has that one wrapped up for all time. Puzzles are a little on the easy side. Bonus game: here we play as Agatha, now fully occupied in her own detecting. It's a very good coda involving two of the other characters in the main game. Overall, a top-notch entry in a great series. I played it twice and can't get the music out of my head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh this is a good one! I really like this series and this game is the best of them all thus far. Some halloween themes thrown in with a good detective story. There are morphs and cards to collect and a side bar lets you know if you've found them all in each scene... a nice touch. Has a really good ending plus a great bonus chapter. I was able to do quite a few of the puzzles and I'm not a puzzle person. I loved the HO scenes too. Give it a try. Also, we should all try to note our favorite game or a game we really enjoyed in the space Big Fish alots for it. Ive found lots of great games this way. Enjoy fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A VAMPIRE GAME THAT CAN BE ENJOYED ANY TIME OF THE YEAR Dark City Budapest is an excellent game from one of my favorite developers. At least for me, this is a game that will become a Halloween favorite that I will replay each year. Although I am not a huge fan of vampire type games, I did find myself enjoying this one. Not only is the game great for the Halloween season having a detective theme makes the game one that can be played at any time of the year. The hidden object scenes are excellent and have the variety that we have come to expect. However, I happen to prefer the list find style of HOS to the other styles. What surprised me is that I enjoyed the puzzles more than the HOS. As has become the trend, there were more puzzles than hidden object scenes. If you purchase the CE version of the game, then you can replay most of the puzzles. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline that had me guessing throughout the game. The story moved along at a good pace and did keep me entertained. For me the game was a long game and it probably took me longer to complete because I spend a lot of time making sure that I find all of the collectibles. Even though this is a game purchase for me, please play the demo to see if Dark City Budapest is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is THE Halloween Game! I really enjoyed this game, especially the surprize ending! The music was time appropriate, the scenery was gorgeous and gothic without being super saturated with the dreaded pink and purple. Some of the puzzles were very challenging, the HOGs were not annoying and I enjoyed the variations. The VO's, although not geographically correct (American) were nonetheless delivered very well and very smoothly. The VO actors did not sound like they were doing a project for Acting for Beginners 101. The actual characters themselves-excellent artwork, but the devs could have employed a bit more fluidity in the characters' movements. However, this does not take away from the game or the very engaging storyline. This is the fourth Halloween game I've played so far and it'll be my seasonal last 'till Christmas. I'm so glad I saved the best for last. Great job- loved it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Series! I really enjoyed this game. As is typical of the games in this series, you get a lot of information as you move along, and I read every bit of it, as it adds dimension. This is a complete, well developed story. I love the music and the cat. I also enjoy playing detective and assembling the clues. The voices of the characters were normal, not irritating in any way. There were times when I just stopped what I was doing to admire the scenes. And I didn't have to worry about whether I had collected the morphs and collectibles, because it tells you whether you have collected them all or not, which I appreciate. Bravo Friendly Fox on another great game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Are Vampires Getting A Bad Rap in this great new Dark City adventure? I'm eager to find out what's going on and my curiosity is growing while Agatha is busy trying to solve the mystery killings. I love the Dark City Series and this new installment is a good one, IMO. Something is amiss as Agatha's investigation uncovers evidence of foul play that goes deeper than anyone imagined. Budapest is a perfect location for this kind of story with its drab looking landscape, and the atmosphere is dark and brooding which adds an extra touch of menace to the surroundings. I love the appearance of the characters and the voice-overs sound pretty good. The scenes are full of things to keep my interest from going downhill. To my eye, the graphics are excellent and color-appropriate. There are a couple of collectibles to watch for, one of each per scene. Although they are easy to spot in most scenes, it is still fun as an extra challenge. I am, as always, thankful for the indicator bar to keep tabs on the collectibles for me. It's a great feature, sorely missed when not available. I very much like all the HOPs and most of the mini-games. There is a good variety of each, but I did skip a few puzzles because they were more tedious than fun. The game is nicely paced, not too task-heavy and everything is located without much time involved. But I do wish developers could come up with some new tasks, especially ones that make more sense. I don't have a clear picture of what it's all leading to as we look for the baddies in this vampiric tale, but it is very entertaining for me, so far. I am 3 chapters into the game and, as always, I am hoping for a surprise twist to the story and a suitable ending. If there are any loose ends left at the finish, I hope the Bonus Chapter continues the story and gives us a satisfactory end to Dark City: Budapest. The usual choices of game modes make this game fun for all skill levels. I feel it is a worthy addition to my Halloween collection and the demo helped in my decision to buy right away. Sometimes I sit on the fence a long time because a demo didn't offer enough to keep me interested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in show so far this season. Loved this game. Knew two minutes into the demo that I would buy it. Decent storyline and although I'm not a puzzle lover found many of them to be task oriented puzzles (I mean the type where you do something to get to the next part) rather than mind bending puzzles that detract from the story. Anyway, I really enjoyed playing. The only problem I had was sometimes it took a few clicks to get or place an item.
