Secret City: Mysterious Collection Collector's Edition is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! Love this game, as I love Domini games so much, and this one there is this perfection and balance along with a fantastic graphics over the top great! Storyline, excellent! Puzzles remarkable, it has a singular exceptionally fine understanding of what is fun, and not too tedious. To keep this short since most can read the first synopsis of the games when they test or buy, I recommend this game! Five stars mean its more than just run of the mill, love this one the best over all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this series I really enoyed this game. I love the premise of there being a secret city within a city. What I liked best about it is that it flowed so well and I could get on wth having fun, which I always do with these games. I found all of the collectibles fairly easy and the games are good. I am no Mastermind and just want to enjoy the games and not have to sit over them puzzling. Although it is good to be stretched now and then. I have not been buying many new games lately as they all seem very samey but, for me, this was different and I had to buy it as soon as the demo ended. My interest did not diminish when the demo finished and I carried on enjoying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five Stars I love playing the Secret City and Secret Society games. They are inventive, colorful and great stories. And they keep me entertained for days. Again, this is a keeper. Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What are we collecting? Hello friends! As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story to others. Lost count with this series, but we've had quite a few. The graphics in this addition are beautiful, but we still have blurring when going in and out of close up scenes. Since this has become the norm these days, I don't even downgrade for it anymore. Excellent game play, no problems during the demo. Beautiful colors, bright, but not over powering. Excellent animation, very realistic facial movements, even the eyes move when they speak and their mouth move perfectly. Still a bit put off by the constant body movements in some cases, but not a game changer. Voices are age and character appropriate with realistic emotions. You can click through dialog without missing any hints or earned objects to help throughout the game. You don't have music unless something is about to happen, then can be the sound of "edge of your seat." Very nice sfx, except the odd sound when you find an object. HOGs are varied and fairly well done, with interactive HOGs, find and place a picture piece, match color patches. Scenes are fairly clear and items are not difficult to find. If we didn't care for the HOGs, we could switch to a March 3 game. Puzzles are not as easy as you might think, even on easy mode. Most took time and thought to complete. The hint system is very helpful, no transport feature, but the map opens to show you where you need to go next. Very nice, clear map! Areas are identified by name and picture, and if you choose, it also indicates where we may have missed a collectible. Remove the check mark if you want a lot more challenge finding the collectibles. Collectibles are very well done and varied. We have 70 coins to buy items for a run down plane. We have 15 various morphing artifacts. There are also 15 pictures that are fairly large, but still easy to miss. Other than the pictures, none of the collectibles are all that easy to spot. Some are quite small and the morphing items morph quickly. The story line in this one doesn't seem like anything new and I wasn't quite sure what we are doing or why, but I do find that I need to play it out and find out. Even at that, it flowed very well. We are constantly on the move in this addition and there is some challenge. I like this series and this addition is no exception. I think this will appeal to most all levels of players. Yes, I am adding this one to my CE collection. Gave this one a 4.75 because of the collectibles and the challenging games. I think the story line will become much clearer very shortly. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not My Bag of Twinkies, BUT... I'm not one for fantasy games consisting of a secret city populated by four-armed people, blue giants, and dwarves. To me, it's sophomoric, but, hey, that's just me. I like a bit more realism. But, I absolutely love museums and artifacts...so, onward. I like this developer, Domini. So, I bought this CE sight unseen. I forgot that there is a land far away they call "Domini", and it's national flag is purple, and the president's car is purple, and the capitol's draperies are purple, and they were nice enough to give me a purple bullhorn as a welcome gift. The museum's curator even had a purple cassette recorder. Get the purple picture? But, in some scenes the purple palette is noticeably reduced or gently muted, so we know it's there but not in your face. OK, enough of this ranting. The graphics are actually very, very good and the VO's match the characters' movements just about spot-on. The HOPs are basic junk piles but with good variations to keep it interesting and a match-3 option. You've got a helpful collectible indicator right under your map to let you know what to pick up and where. Loved the puzzles- always play on difficult mode when available. So, the technical aspects are there (a point off for the dependency on purple). I played a Secret City game about a year ago and as soon as I saw a four-armed humanoid I quit the game and put it in my "Play Later Queue". I thought I'd give this series another try with this game. It's a good game- I didn't love it but many will. Happy New Year!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little irritation! The game is ok on all fronts. Not much different to most HOGs. The little irritation is really early on in the game. You need to find Big Ben. So I was trying to find Big Ben, only to discover that there wasn't a bell any where. That is when I realised what they really meant was find the Elizabeth Tower (Elizabeth Tower houses Big Ben).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As good as anything else they've done I continue to enjoy the output of this developer. I particularly enjoy the Match-3 option on the HOGs. As for the storyline, it's a story about mysterious artifacts. Why you'd be disappointed that the game deals with artifacts is beyond me. The graphics and artwork are great, the voice acting is grand, and the animation is very good. Unlike other reviewers, I'm not going to tell you how to solve the puzzles, spoilers aren't my jam. Give it a shot. If you like their previous games, you'll like this one just as much.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Secret City - not so mysterious I read other reviews before I bought this game. Very disappointing as I have really enjoyed the other games in this series. It felt like the developers were just going through the motions, a few easy collectibles in each scene, a bit of going here and going there and bright colours. This is not good enough for those of us who actually spend money on buying games - have a bit of respect for us as customers and game players The storyline was ok and could have been a lot more exciting I won't buy another game from these developers until they improve their approach - always loved their games, automatic purchase for me as a rule But they need to try a lot harder

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not My Favorite Christmas Present As the Secret City detective, I am responding to the museum employee's call for my help as he is concerned about my friend, Sakir. He has not heard from Sakir since he went to investigate some artifacts bequeathed to the Secret City Museum by their deceased owner. I find Sakir at the museum and under some kind of evil influence. I follow him as the mystery intensifies. Take a hint! When a lab tech says her glasses were knocked off and you find them LOCKED in her purse, it means nothing good for logic, the game plot, or the outcome. Then I run around a scene trying to find a noise-maker and its buttons to scare away a crow that stayed put even during my search of his perch. I even pounded a chisel into ice inches away from this bird and he didn't flinch. And Logic dies again. So we have a mediocre game with multiple artifacts to open everything, a minimal story, and some very dicey moves for the player, moves that we've seen a thousand times before. On the plus side the artwork and animation are well done. There is a Match 3 alternative to the HOPs. There is CE bling. But are those enough of a reason to sink money into this game? Please try the Demo to decide for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Surely A Story Can Be Created Without Artifacts!? It used to be fun, but now it is old and done to death. The demo was quite enough for me with too many artifacts and not enough story. It wasn't all that interesting either. I have enjoyed several of the earlier Secret City games, but I found this one was quite lacking all around. I always wish the stories would focus more upon the citizens of this city hidden away from the humans, but there are only brief encounters with them. There is great potential for something more than running around in search of artifacts. I would think that Domini could zap this game with its magic touch and give us some good entertainment. The graphics were nice but there was nothing special about the scenes or color, just typical. Lots of tasks and going back and forth which made me lose interest early in the demo. Sometimes a game improves after the demo, but I didn't feel it would happen with this one. I did complete the trial and didn't encounter any glitches, no delays between scenes/locations. The standard HOP styles were fun, all were easy and quick to finish. Some of the puzzles could be played in Easy or Hard Mode, but the ones in the demo were not of much challenge. The collectibles were sparse but included lots of coins to find and 40 achievements that are always interesting. The morphs were not as easy to spot as the other collectibles, but still too easy. Without the challenge of well-hidden collectibles, the fun is greatly diminished, IMO Secret City: Mysterious Collection is an okay game if you are not expecting a special story plot or non-stop entertainment. It can be easy or more challenging, depending on your choice of play mode. You may like this game a great deal, but for me it was boring and "empty" of many of the fun elements I Iook for in HOPA game.
