Modern Art 5 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is this modern art? I have to admit to being disappointed on my first run through this game. All dark and dreary colours. I enjoyed my second run through because I love these games and now knew what to expect so I could sit back, relax and enjoy. I am not an art expert so I'm not sure whether the use of these colours is what modern art is all about. I will buy the next one. The art is phenomenal but I would love to see some bright blue skies and lush green fields.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Amazing Colors In The Synopsis Pics but none made it into the first level. Too bad, because it made me skeptical of what was waiting in the rest of the game. Again, not thrilled with the images. And do I need to mention that the first level cannot be exited without completing all the images? So my disappointment is mounting and my desire to buy MA4 went out the window! I hate that feature! Except for 3 images, they were unappealing in subject and color. I loved the little bird and teapot, a perfect opportunity for bright, cheery colors but instead they were mostly washed-out greens, drab greys and blues. There were the usual simplistic images at the start, more food, lots of dark color. So, here we go again. No further interest in seeing the other levels. No matter what the subject, Modern Art always over-uses dark, murky, drab colors with very little distinction between them. Why have beautiful subject matter, only to make it fade into the darkness? If they gave us a rainbow, I'm sure it would be brown, black and grey! For me, painting is all about color. IMO, the lack of color creates unappealing results most times. Modern Art has always earned high praises, but now enough is enough. I'm thrilled with another art game that has lots of fun features and a scrumptious color palette, that doesn't leave me feeling blah after I finish painting. So MA is on the shelf until some improvements are added to make it a more satisfying, fun experience. Don't get me wrong. I still think Modern Art is a top quality game! It just needs a little kick in the pants to make it better. Another point I have to consider is the $$ value. Regardless of how large or intricate, the images are far to easy to complete. I can finish most of them in less than 10 minutes by merely sweeping my mouse over the shaded areas. So without time involved or any kind of "search challenge", the 64 images don't last long at all. Also, more images would be appreciated. I mostly like Modern Art but do not care for the limited subject matter which is mostly, landscapes, cityscapes and food. The animals are usually dogs and too many similar type cats. Still wishing for more people in various scenes, birds/animals in natural habitat, sealife, nature and flowers. Something in the way of Art Nouveau or Art Deco, too, would bring a long-lost form of beauty to the table. Painting and coloring are my all-time favorite hobbies. A great escape from stress and the ugliness that emerged with COVID. I can't imagine a day without color and art in some form to keep the light beautiful and bright. I do hope you enjoy Modern Art 5 and, if not already, become a paint by numbers fan. Certainly is a fun form of art, that quickly becomes addictive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Same old colors! I used to really like these games as I found them relaxing. I enjoy not having to be contently challenging my brain, so I go to this type of game to chill. That said, I have noticed with this developer, while providing different pictures, there are more pictures with boring browns, grays, muted shades of orange. There are so many wonderful, colorful pictures they could use, but they always go to depressing city skylines, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!), misty, colorless landscapes. I will be hesitant to purchase another game from this developer because of the lack of color. Art by Numbers at least gives us colorful abstracts and pictures. Hope the developer sees this critique and livens up the colors in the next installment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WHY HASN'T THIS DEVELOPER FIXED THE BROKEN? I loved Modern Art 1 & 2 but since then these games don't work on my PC which btw is a problem I've had with their Pixel Art games since the beginning. The screen is off-centered and so large I can't even get to the options tab to select windowed mode. I've seen several complaints on the web about this same issue and it only seems to be games by this developer that I have an incompatibility issue. The Mac versions usually work fine but the last two games released don't have a Mac version! Fix the incompatibility issue so that everyone can enjoy these games, please. There are 64 images available but you are still forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? I'm sure everyone would like the ability to pick and choose from any level! Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. Hopefully, the developer will one day decide to address the PC compatibility issue, till then won't you join us at my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net ?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WHEN ARE THESE TYPES OF GAMES EVER GOING TO STOP There isn't much to say about this game. It is yet ANOTHER boring, non-challenging game. I keep wondering when these games will stop. Every single version of these types of games (Paint by numbers, Art by numbers, and Modern Art) ARE ALL THE SAME. The ONLY difference in each game is the pictures. You would think by now, with all of the negative reviews given on these games, that they would just 'call it a day' and cease and desist.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm not 3yrs old!!! This is a CHILDREN'S game, & should be listed as one. I'm all for games for children, as some will like the odd game. If a game is for pre-school, under 10's etc, then do us the courtesy of saying so, please. The overall quality of the games - I like - has gone right down. Quantity over quality?! In my opinion, definitely. Big Fish used to be the best site. Unfortunately, not anymore. There are better games elsewhere.
