Grim Tales: Trace in Time Collector's Edition is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anna who This is a good series with this game in the middle upper class of them all. Seemed short but could be I enjoyed it and it just seemed short. Pretty much similar to the other games in the series. Little spooky feel to the game but not scary to me. One does look for items but didn't seem like there was a lot. The player does switch around with the people in the game but not confusing. I skipped some of the puzzles because I had no idea what was wanted to be done but that might be on me. Graphics are good. The bonus round was very good and one can go back to find collectable's that you missed. Also had a search for items bonus round which is part of the others in this series which make the game worth the Collectors price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE CONSEQUENCES OF ALTERING THE PAST Completed Game approximately 5.0 hours (including completion of all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) 18 Main Game Scene Locations +8 Bonus Chapter Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate There were bound to be consequences for time-traveling, especially when you use your gift to alter the past to achieve a more favorable outcome. Now it's time for Anna to pay the piper, The Omen has finally caught up with this time-traveling, skull-no-skull lugging detective, and without daddy Richard around to help, this may be the end of Time for Anna...or did Richard foresee this coming a long, long time ago, who knows, perhaps daddy Richard loved Anna enough to make the ultimate sacrifice! ?Helper/Gadget? In Heritage, Richard and his Skull were MIA and now we are learning more about Richard's fark past in Trace In Time. They have really turned Anna's sarcastic father into an unlikeable character which leads me to believe they needed to write the character off, probably due to a dispute with the voice actor? I don't see how Richard and his skull will be able to return as normal after this scenario, and that is a shame because even though it is a gimmicky feature we all made fun of (because Anna carries his skill around in her purse) If Richard was still popping in and out, I would probably have given this game 5-Stars because I happen to love this type of story, yes it's a bit dark, but the storyline was mysterious and it drew me in as I wanted to learn more about the background story because I have been playing this series from the very start! ??Morphing Objects/Collectibles: (CE version only)? There are no Morphing Objects, this is another reason for my deduction of a star...Elephant Games have always had Morphing Objects and they have made a poor decision deleting this feature! There are 12 Collectible Time Pieces that were fairly well blended to match the decor, but not every scene has them and they need to add a Collectibles tab to alert the player if there is a collectible in that particular scene (as an option) There are also 25 Zoom-Zone Screensaver Puzzle Pieces that creates two Screensavers as well. ?Hidden Object Scenes? There are 10 Hidden Object Scenes, 7 Zoom Zone HO's, +4 Main HO's, and 2 Zoom Zone HO's in the CE Bonus Chapter, The objects are fairly easily spotted which is something Elephant Games needs to work on. They include Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Replacing Items into the Scene, Matching Pair Finds, and Keywords in Sentence Finds. There are no HO morphs or alternate game available. ?Mini-Games? There are 15 Mini-Games +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter, some of which are multi-layered progressive puzzles. The games range from easy to medium difficulty, and some of them were ridiculously frustrating to solve such as swapping shaped clock faces along just 2 paths. Every time you swapped pieces the others would shift along the outer rim. ?Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only)? You will play Aubrey in the BC who tries to free Anna from the Looking Glass trap. There are 8 Scene Locations in this average-length chapter with 5 Mini-Games and 7 Hidden Object Scenes, plus 2 Zoom Zone HO's. You will continue to search for the remaining 3 Collectible Water Clocks, and 6 Screensaver Pieces to complete the second Screensaver. ?Collector's Edition Extra's? 5Wallpapers NOT JUST 1, 2 Screensavers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 22 Achievements, 14 Replayable Mini-Games, and 13 Hidden Object Scenes, 25 Screensaver Zoom Zone Pieces,12 Collectible Time Pieces, a Secret Room to search for 26 Morphing Objects (timed) Expedition to return to the scenes to search for missed Collectibles, 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide. You can find my Series Lists and much more on my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this game I love this very beautifull game . The only matter is that it's a bit short for the main part , or may be it's me who become better player LOL !!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Same as the last few in series This game plays pretty much like the last few in this series. Still uses the same silly stuff (glass shard to cut, lock picks, clock hands etc). What was annoying was the first scene in the hospital, where you have someone who just had a heart transplant being served a hunk of butter for some reason, with no monitoring or IVs,(they literally crack open your whole chest to replace your heart--I promise you, you are not dancing around the room directly after--at least give her pain drugs!!) and a locked box that has the key for another locked medical box that has nothing medical in it. I get the whole suspended disbelief thing, but this was just dumb. The game itself is not awful. The storyline made me want to play more, I finished the demo without too much further irritation, wanted to know what happens next despite the occasionally inane gameplay. The puzzles are not hard just time consuming, it's just that the details in some of them are so small I needed a magnifying glass to figure it out. I skipped half of them. The whole game is colored dark, so seeing details is a chore sometimes. It is supposed to be moody, but comes off depressing. Despite all my crabbing, I didn't mind the game, probably will buy if there is a good sale, 2 for 1.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I Hoped for More Oh Well I found way too much weirdness and disappointed thinking that I just might get a good real backstory on Richard Gray and his skull. Sorta a backstory and if it was meant as such, fell short.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me this time After playing ten minutes of the demo I deleted it. It is a very confusing story and quite dark at times. At times I wasn't even sure what I was supposed to be doing and needed to use the hint too often. It used to be fun with Richard helping out but to find he was so cruel was really off putting! I have all the other games in this series but, sorry, this is not for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Oh, no, I really wanted to love this one.. I love the Grim Tales series. Let me recommend you some of the better ones: The Bride Bloody Mary Color of Fright The Legacy (!) I played the demo of this game in hard mode. I'm sorry to say that the story is so disengaging and doesn't make you want to continue to figure the rest out. I love a good story and a bit of a challenge. This game has neither of them in my opinion. Elephant games used to have great, lengthy and challenging games in the past. I ask again - Where has all the good developers gone? Have they sold out to in-purchase, mobile games? I am gonna continue following developers like the ones that made Nightmare Adventures, Secrets of the dark, Parallels Cross etc. This is just crap to earn money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ZIGZAG THROUGH TIME IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 5 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 39 pages (My Time: Less Than 5 Hours) Zigzag through time with Anna Gray as she battles a secret society, Omen, ran by an evildoer out to annihilate time travelers. It will be a short jaunt, however. As Anna, time will fly by on this time trip – this game is short! I played the entire game completing all activities within less than five (5) hours. This is one of my favorite series. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed by this latest entry. This game lacks the quality and activities seen in other collector edition games. There are few extras. The collectibles are time related, twelve (12) timepieces and twenty-four (24) screensaver pieces. Many scenes only have one collectible. There are only two screensavers and one wallpaper! There is a secret room which is opened upon completion of the game in which to search for morphing items within the twenty-six (26) scenes of the game. There is also an expedition room which allows the player to return to the rooms to search for collectibles missed while playing the game. Some of the HOP scenes and mini-games can be replayed at the end of the game. The story behind this game takes a dark turn. Daddy dearest, Richard, does not appear in this game to provide comic relief as in past games. This game is very dark in comparison to others in the series. I believe Elephant made a mistake by going down a dark path and not including Richard as comic relief for this game. Instead, this game goes into some dark history which I found very disturbing. It is difficult to reconcile the fun and loving relationship Anna Gray has with good ole dad after his sordid history is exposed. I found the game has a good pace; however, it is so short it is not difficult to maintain a good pace. MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • 22 achievements. • Collect 12 time pieces and 24 screensaver pieces. • Secret Room – opened upon completion of the game to search for morphing items within the scenes. You are timed in the search. • Expedition Room which allows the player to return to the 26 game scenes to search for missing collectibles. • One wallpaper along with 2 screensavers, concept art, music, and video sequences • Replay 13 HOP scenes and 14 mini-games BONUS CHAPTER: Play Aubrey, a character from the main game, as she tries to rescue Anna Gray, trapped within a looking glass. This chapter lacks all the adventure of a Wonderland excursion. It is another short excursion into more of the same as within the main game. There are six (6) HOP scenes –two of which are what I consider mini-HOP scenes, searching for six items. There are also five (5) mini-games. Continue collecting the collectibles within this game. I found the story absurd. HOP SCENES: There are twenty-one (21) HOP scenes within the game with seven (7) of these being mini-HOP scenes in which the player searches for only six items. Thirteen (13) can be replayed upon completion of the game. All of them are either a standard list of items or silhouette along with two mini-HOP scenes with matching items. There is one scene in the demo where items are replaced back within the scenes. I wish there were more creatively designed scenes such as this one. There are some unique scenes for some of the searches such as items on a map and on a wall full of family portraits. However, I found most of the scenes lack creativity and to me, are rather ho-hum and boring. MINI-GAMES: There are twenty (20) mini-games, fourteen (14) of which can be replayed at the end of the game. They are the best part of this game. One of the mini-games I have never seen before. It is a puzzle which requires placing tiles into position to create a 3-dimensional image. SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MNI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO: A. Switch puzzle. Switch pieces on a circular maze to create a path for a wire to travel along it to the opposite side of the maze. B. Sequence puzzle. Slide parts of four tubes to expose numbers; then, press the numbers in ascending order. Numbers are hidden within the tubes and sections of each tube must be slid to expose the numbers. C. Rotating tiles puzzle. Rotate three circular dials on a safe so that the arrow on each dial faces north. D. Connection puzzle. Move connectors on a grid to create a continuous path from the left to the right side of the grid. E. Stacking puzzle. Arrange and stack tiles onto a grid to recreate a 3-dimensional image. BONUS CHAPTER: F. Logic puzzle. Fit all items in a wardrobe onto two grids at the sides so each item is placed and there are no items stacked on top of each other nor any empty spaces. G. Tangram puzzle. Move tangram pieces from the right side of the screen to the left filling in all spaces and finding a place for all items. H. Paint puzzle. Paint a portrait of Dorian by matching a numbered brush with a numbered color and touching the palette to fill the color in **I recommend this game based on the quality of the mini-games.
