Fantasy Mosaics 48: Gnome's Puzzles is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will always buy these games! I know, I know - some players complain these games are too similar - but I don't find that at all! The scenes are different and the developers are doing absolutely the right thing with the accompanying music. LOVE the calm music - it's half of why I play these games. The puzzles in between some scenes are fun, solveable, and a nice pause between the mosaic boards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's Monday - It's Penguin Day! Nothing surprising about that ! What a shame, another dreary adventure with boring decorating, uncreative mini-games, leaving me to wonder if it will ever get any better. The arrival of Number 48! Are we destined for 48 more?! I feel no need to keep buying Fantasy Mosaics. It makes more sense to save the $$ and dig into the oldies. There have been only a few changes since its beginning and I think they were color additions. Mosaic games, for me, are relaxing but challenging and it's fun to see the images emerge. They are a nice escape from my usual HOPA games. This series used to be one of my favorites. The pictures aren't as cute anymore and the colors aren't as vibrant. The 7 tile styles are pretty plain but it's fun to try them all. The graphics are okay, there are 3 game modes. the music is cheery and we have the same features and tools. There is still no Save Feature which has been requested umpteen times, but that comes as no surprise. Fantasy Mosaics has become "old hat", the devs need to come up with something new to keep it interesting and entertaining. How about considering some of the reviewers' suggestions? Pennmom always comes up with some excellent ones. It is hard to remain a fan when you just ignore us. There new devs on BFG now, with mosaic games that really outshine what you are offering. The fun just isn't there anymore. There are plenty of levels, all can be replayed, images are recognizable and labeled, challenge grows as the game progresses but not outlandishly, change game modes and tile choices whenever you like. The minimal features work fine, never any tech issues. It is a good game but needs an overdue facelift. Fantasy Mosaics has many devoted fans, I own 20 of these games but just had to call it quits. The Penguin family doesn't add any "cute" to the series anymore. Would love to see a new family, preferably one with a better sense for decorating and some new types of mini-games. Some updates and more creativity would surely bring the ratings back up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from JUST ANOTHER FANTASY MOSAICS GAME I used to love Fantasy Mosaics Games but I've grown weary of the penguin family drama after 48 games. The Penguins have had adventures from every genre imaginable and still nothing within the game itself changes or improves to hold my interest. The Zen Mode has returned for those who prefer to solve the griddlers without all the hand/flipper holding. In Zen Mode, the numbers aren't crossed off but Mistakes aren't counted against you either, because chances are, you'll have to edit some of the cells as you switch between colors. You can delete filled-in or crossed-off cells by right-clicking the cell in Zen Mode, and you'll know you have completed a particular color correctly because a checkmark will appear on the color bubble. You can play in a Casual Mode which crosses off the cells one by one, or the Advanced Mode, which only crosses off the remaining cells once the entire row and column have been filled in. You will earn a Gold trophy if you make no mistakes, a Silver trophy if you make one mistake, and a Bronze trophy if you make two mistakes. You will also earn up to three gold Stars if you don't use any hints, one star is deducted each time you use a hint. Therefore, it is possible to make a mistake or two but still earn 3 stars as long as you don't use any available hints. There are 20 locations, and each location has 5 Griddlers and an additional mini-game. You can choose from 7 different tile sets, ranging in color vibrancy, and styles. Locked Colors can be disabled in the Settings menu, otherwise, some of the colors are locked and unavailable until you uncover color-specific keys that are hidden beneath some of the filled-in cells The Eye feature allows you to hide the grid to get a look at the puzzle without all the grid lines, and there is a reset icon that makes it much easier to restart the level if you make a mistake. There are groups of numbers located on each column and row of the grid, each group of numbers must be separated by at least one blank or crossed off cell. Sometimes it's easier to cross-off cells that can't possibly contain a filled-in cell, which will reduce the number of cells and narrow the playing field down a bit, when you get stuck, you can switch colors and work back and forth until it's solved. Some of the cells contain bonuses such as extra hints, extra mistakes allowed, or an extra pickax which allows you to choose which cell you want a hint on, and some cells contain keys to unlock colors (unless you disable this feature in settings) There is a Sun icon as well that when fully charged, will give you a mega-hint, filling in or crossing off a 3x3 area of your choice. The bears are friendly at The Woods Forum so stop by and say hello at my new forum thewoodsforum.boards.net
