Myths of the World: Under the Surface Collector's Edition is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loch Ness? Hello friends! As usual, I review mostly on game play and leave the story line to others. Again, the graphics are blurry in all scenes, but worse in close ups. Really hard on the eyes. Game play was very good and I had no problems during the demo. Colors weren't bad. Voices were okay, but a bit muddled. We had a combination of English, Scotish, Irish and British. Sometimes, a couple from the same character. There wasn't a lot of interaction with the characters, but enough to keep you from getting bored. Didn't seem to be a lot of sound FX, mostly only for major actions. Music was okay. We didn't have a helpful animal or character, but we did have a pan flute that allowed us to communicate with the animals when needed. Very simple puzzle connected with that feature. HOGs were, with lists, fragments and highlighted words. They were clean and items were not difficult to find, with nothing new. We could switch to a connect the jewels if we wished. The puzzles were very simple and took no thought or brain power to complete. Hint system was helpful. We do have the transport feature for longer locations, and of course, we do have a jump map, which is quite boring and bland. Collectibles are disappointing. We have to find 38 signs in the shape owls. These are quite large and very easy to spot. We also have morphing objects in the HOGs. Definitely needed more. The story line started out interesting, hinting at Loch Ness, but went down hill after that. Nessie just got lost. There wasn't much in the way of action or challenge in this addition either. When I beta tested this one, I had indicated that I might get it, if it had some really good collectibles...it does not. When this series started, it was pretty good, but has lost something along the way. The story may pick up as the game progresses, but if I don't see it during the demo, I don't buy it. I am sure there will be those who will find this one to their liking, but there wasn't anything that really drew me into the story. This game might appeal to a beginner, but I'm not sure about a seasoned gamer. I will recommend it for beginners only, but no buy for me. I gave this one a 3.0. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews. Play on!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Is "weird" becoming the norm ? Eipix being responsible for developing this game, I believed it would be interesting, and even quite good. Hard luck, it isn't. The only two features that stand out are the artwork, well designed, elaborate, professional, and the puzzles, some of which are the result of an effort to innovate. The rest is not much different from what you have seen in dozens of other games of like genre: - use a log to ram a closed door - repair a chair - fix a candle trimmer with a screw (without a screwdriver) - clean a jar etc... Add to that a number of weird items that you need to find, items that of course do not exist in reality. And of course, there is always something missing somewhere, or broken, like the pontoon you have to fix, or things that are stuck shut, like the drawer that you have to pry open. The story seems to be about a lake monster (Nessie ?), but it deviates in unexpected directions with mushrooms, potions, and quite frankly I don't know what else because at that point I quit and uninstalled the game. You do have HO scenes, naturally; the first one is a shopping list of disparate items that have no connection with the story; the second is a bunch of fragmented objects... that, you guessed it, bear no link with the story either. To make things worse, most items are tiny and hardly visible. Luckily, the hint system is generous if you choose "custom" mode. And to crown it all, you see a flying woman, and use a pan flute to communicate with animals; at one point you thus "charm" a little mouse into fetching an object that you cannot reach. What other outlandish inventions has the game in store in subsequent chapters ? I'll never know because, as far as I am concerned, that Under the Surface Myth will remain... under the surface for ever. I don't mind a bit of fantasy even if that involves a stretch of imagination. But in such heavy doses ? No thanks. However, you might like this Myth, so don't take my word for it, do play the demo.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from too short this was a little better than the last 3-4 from this series....just. this game was way too short for a CE.most of the HOS games were so easy..and the rest of the puzzles were more of the same from all the games for the last 4-5 yrs. walk away. wish I had. if eipix spent as much time on these games that they do for their opening intro for all their games.now, there would be some great games.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't Quite Place It But I found the game boring. This Myths of the World seemed cumbersome. I could only tolerate the first 20 minutes. Just can't put my finger on why I disliked it - but it didn't peak my interest.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from VERY boring game This series keeps getting worse. The first one was good, but now it's just another Eipix mediocre game. Couldn't be bothered to play more than 20 minuttes of the demo, same boring old hog scenes. VERY bad graphics. And the first minigames wasn't either good ore interesting, just annoying. The only good thing about this game was the voice acting. All-in-all, not recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WHAT A DRAG Upon encountering a story HOP....and loathsome mini with only 12 items to find....click, click and you're done...and a FROG with a total lack of artistry, I called it quits. I refused to even finish that word find story crap while someone is reading something I couldn't care less about. It isn't a HOS to me. The gameplay is such a bore with annoying puzzles that include a gimmick flute. I just about croaked when I had to assemble a turtle picture that looked totally unrecognizable as to what the picture was supposed to be. The voices are a real trip grinding on my nerves. If you don't remember what one said, that's ok, just give it a click and you will hear the same sentence over and over and over. Cool. The graphics are decent, but some scenes are so dark I couldn't see to find the stupid collectible signs or much of anything else. I needed to look to the SG to see where the collectible signs were. It sure would be nice to have some more light and clarity in these dark scenes. This does NOT have much to offer as a CE and is going to be a short one, folks. There is a replay of 28 puzzles and ONLY 12 hos. That, right there is a turn off. No more story type or mini hos for me. They are big time cheap. The best part of this was uninstalling it. What a waste of time.
