Cadenza: The Following Collector's Edition is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cadenza Fun I am writing this in the middle of the game, because I am very much enjoying the game play. After playing a beta, I wrote in my game notes, "Buy this!" I'm not sorry I did. I believe it will be a little short, but if I enjoy the game, that's OK. The one criticism I have is not enough music. It was the music that had me hooked on the first Cadenza game and what has had me coming back for the rest. Puzzles are not difficult, but not absurdly easy, either. I like finding the morphs in the HOs. I look forward to the rest of the game, and I do recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TREAT YOURSELF TO AN ENTERTAINING NEW CADENZA AS YOU JOIN VELVET WHISPER ON THEIR REUNION TOUR Jump into a game that will take you back in time as the 60s rock band Velvet Whisper reunites after a twenty-year split. I found myself enjoying this trip back in time with the band as I played the very good HOPS. Thankfully, this developer got it right and didn’t include nearly as many puzzles in the mix. The puzzles were entertaining and not overly difficult, and it didn’t seem as if they were thrown into the game as time fillers. Of course, I play HOPA games for the HOS and not the puzzles that in recent years have replaced many of the excellent HOS we once found in the genre. The HOPS are creative and enjoyable to play with most of them being the more traditional list type although there is some variety in style. The items are cleverly hidden and I did end up using the hint button to find some items in the piano because I couldn’t figure out where they were hiding – lol. Yes, some might think that the puzzles were too easy but I happen to enjoy being able to actually complete a puzzle without too much brain drain. One of my favorite puzzles was the one where we needed to align different colored bits to recreate the pattern provided. That puzzle took a bit of time but it was fun to figure it out. The storyline is very good and it didn’t seem overly confusing. The story opens up as we play through the various scenes and begin to realize what is happening and why Velvet Whisper has been “invited” to the Evergreen Hotel. Some might find the game to be short but for me it seemed just about average game time. Of course, I play slowly and have to take in every detail in each scene and always need to find all of the collectibles and morphing objects. I love that this developer provides so many morphing objects and not all of them are easy to find. Maybe if I raced through a game without looking for the collectibles and morphs then the game would seem much shorter than it really is. The Cadenza series of games have been hit or miss over the years but I happen to really like this game. Perhaps it is the throwback to the 60s music theme that made the game more enjoyable but I found the gameplay overall to be a lot of fun. I purchased the game and am very happy that The Following has everything that I enjoy the most in HOPA games. Although the game was a purchase for me, please try the demo to see if it is one that you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought it and love it-Cadenza the music series This must of been planned as a Christmas game as the symbols of candy canes and poinsettias in the main game and more candy canes, gingerbread, snowman and Santa in the bonus chapter appear in the hops. I think this is a hops lovers game with the 17 hops with morphs and I being a hops fan, love the game. I liked that you didn't just have a hops waiting but you did a action and the hops appeared. If you buy games for the puzzles only this game isn't for you. I didn't like the first puzzle but I liked all the others. With 5 chapters+ bonus chapter. It seemed shorter because there isn't a lot of puzzles. I liked playing the guitar once I figured out how they wanted it done. The train had to be touched after the arrow keys. They could explain the puzzles better. It did have a few places that need work. I think Grace's diary could be better than what it was. I thought the places had good graphics. Loved the extras. Morphs and Collectibles in every scene. Morphs in the hops and 27 Treasure hunt items. The treasure hunt items aren't hidden but I didn't mind. I liked revisiting the scenes and picking things up and they didn't have a small number of them. You can replay the Ultimate hops. You can only find the Ultimate hops after you finish the Treasure hunt. The morphs in the scenes are combined with the 17 morphs in the scenes, equaling together of 44. There are 27 signature Mad Head collectibles (the swirl). Treasure Hunt 27. Replay 17 hops and 10 Soundtracks. There are 16 wallpapers and 8 concept art with the slide rule before and after. Replay the Ultimate Hops. I only recommend this game for hops lovers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Madhead Game--up to usual standards This game got pretty bad reviews, which I don't think are merited. It was fun to play, had good visual and sound quality, and there were the usual number of hidden object puzzles. The play time was not noticeably less than other Madhead games. Overall, I quite liked it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Short but sweet While I will agree with the others, that the game runs a little short (especially the Bonus game which was over in no time at all, it seemed) I still recommend the game. I loved the story line and the puzzles and HO scenes were good as I've come to expect from Mad Head games. The graphics and sound are excellent. For once, I didn't have a ton of problems finding the random morphing object in each scene (when I remembered to look for them). They are one of my favorite developers and just because this game was on the short side, my mind hasn't changed about that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Following ? Good game for a sale price. It is a short game with the bonus game real short to the point I was very surprised. Other wise a good game .Not any better than some of the other Cadenza games.Havana Nights is one of the better ones. Big reason for the four star rating is the shortness . One does get to search for the morphing/collectables after finishing the two main games but still can't get over the bonus game be this short.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Music to my ears... Hello friends! Looks like we have #5 in this series. As always, I review mostly on the game play and not the story line, as others do a much better job on that than I. As usual with this series, the graphics are exceptional, very clear, very well done, no blurring when going in and out of closeups. Game play is very well done, with no problems encountered at all. Animation is extremely well done, realistic facial movements and all. Colors are bright without being overpowering. The voice overs are also well done, with emotion, and not someone just reading a script, but very little character interaction. Sound FX are nice and throughout the game, so there is no "dead air" sound at all. Music mostly soothing, but did move with whatever was happening at the time. HOPs are a variation of straight lists and interactive lists. Not quite as varied as in other games in the series. Scenes are clean and clear, no junk piles, and items are not difficult to find. I did not see that you could switch to another game, if you got bored with the HOPs. We do have a morphing item in the HOPs. They aren't that easy to spot, so remember to look for them. Hint system is very helpful, but I have not run across a transport feature yet. They often show up later in a game, but not sure about this one. We do have a rather boring map that will jump you to whatever location is marked. Still a lot of back-tracking. Puzzles were fairly simple to follow and figure out, and took no time at all to complete. Collectibles are the usual symbol for this developer. They are plenty large and easy to see. We also have a morphing item in each scene. Some of these are fairly small and morph quickly. According to the strategy guide, there are also "treasures," but I don't seem to find them. I really like this series and have all but one. At least we didn't have to choose dialog, really don't care for that at all! The story is interesting and easy to follow. It is not an challenging game, but I got into it at the end of the demo, naturally. I gave this game a 4.5, only because it needed more character interaction, which makes a game far more interesting. You tend to get into it more. Also downgraded because it needed a bit more variety in the HOPs. Otherwise, a very nice game, and one which I have already purchased for my collection of CE games. I think all levels of players will find this one enjoyable. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews. Play on!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Game but way too short ! Rating : ??? ½ I love this series - it's one of my favorite. The atmosphere is always great and entertaining. I love the music and the theme of this one - 70's retro Peace & Love vibes. The scenery are greats with beautiful colors and many vintage details. The story is good with some winks to the 70s like the "Hotel California" song and it's legend. But the game is way too short and the bonus chapter was one of the shortest I've played. There are too few puzzles and they are too easy - it's shorten the game considerably. Too much HOS for my taste too. I've beta tested this game and I loved it very much but couldn't know the length at that time. I'm deceived but the game remains entertaining and well conceived like the other in the series. So I recommend it but only for the fans.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be careful MH Games.... Yes be careful MH cos you are seriously in danger of losing countless fans. The last several games from this dev have been very much below par and they need to go back to the drawing board and continue off from where they started when everything they put out was magical. Storyline - ridiculous gameplay - far too easy music - great graphics - cartoons SHORT

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall a disappointment in the series While the game was interesting at times, in the grand scheme of the series, this was a disappointment. While 5 parts in the main chapter, it felt incredibly short. The story was very underwhelming, and generally uninteresting. Because of the poor story, the game wasn't overly very fun. If you are a fan of the series, like I am, the game contributes some fun and a decent past time. Otherwise, it doesn't offer very much. If I could I'd give it 2.5 stars, but since I have to go with whole numbers, I gave it a 3. But I can't find myself recommending the game to the broad public.
