Crown Of The Empire: Around The World Collector's Edition is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very good game! This is a great sequel to the Crown of the Empire series. The plot is intriguing, the gameplay is addictive, the challenge makes you strain your brains, especially on hard mode. The graphics leave a vivid and cheerful impression. I recommend this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Few New Twists This is an intriguing game - not like the usual resource grab. By level two I was building a second 'wagon' to add a worker, which I believe will be the biggest challenge - coordinating workers from multiple locations in the most efficient fashion. By level 3 it took me 2 efforts to get the 3 stars. By level 4 I had two wagons, each upgraded for 2 workers plus a lab to research how to build an eagles nest to clear an eagle from the road. My only critique is that it takes a mouse click to see the resources that a building needs - for the pace of teh game, a mouse over would have been much better - but that is nitpicking. This is a definite buy for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Crown Jewel! I enjoy this series, I have purchased the first one in the series. It is your typical TM, you collect resources, build a building, and complete the task required of you. It could be upgrading a sawmill, quarry whatever is needed. You can change the mode to hard, relaxed whatever you prefer. I choose relaxed because that is what I want to do when I play a game. You can do that when setting up your profile. I don't need to go into great detail, give it a try and you'll find out. I recommend this game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet characters - Hurray!! This is a good basic TM game that I will be purchasing, There are two outstanding features - the characters are quiet and the developer is allowing the gamer to decide when they've had enough time to read the text and then hit the "continue" option. Stellar features to me. There are musical or some type of sound prompts when something happens on screen, but it's so delightful to have quiet characters. I wish more TM games had quiet characters instead of the constant, repetitive, irritating and boring chatter of characters every time you click on something, I made it through level 7 during the trial version. I always play games in relaxed or easy mode since I want to take my time and thoroughly enjoy a game. The graphics in this game are colorful and clever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A big improvement! It seems the devs of this game listened to the comments, most of them negative, about this game and have tried to improve some of the elements. For me the biggest 'thank you for listening' award goes to whoever decided that saying 'OK' every time the workers did anything was not the best idea, so got rid of it. What a relief!! To be honest I can't remember much about the first game apart from the irritating 'OK's' but I like this sequel enough to actually consider buying it! It does need some thought; taking a wrong path will stop you advancing because of the lack of a resource, so there is some strategy involved. Graphics are basic but not unattractive. You can choose from 3 levels of play and there is a guide, although I didn't look at it during the 43 minutes I played of the 60 minute demo. I didn't lose interest at all during that time, which is always a good sign! As there's a sale today, I will opt for the CE version of this little builder game; I think I'll enjoy it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a bad little game! This is a fairly challenging TM game, once you get past the first few levels. Pretty standard stuff - build sawmill, farm, etc. I got to level 9 during the trial, so I purchased the game as I was enjoying it so much! I'm not sure it's worth the CE price though, especially since you can't access the guide from the game levels, and there's not really anything else special. Some levels you need to plan carefully, as there are only a set amount of certain resources available.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Developer is Really Improving I found this game to be challenging and fun, although the graphics and music leave something to be desired. I wish the icons were bigger on the played field because it's hard sometimes to figure out what's what. I have a big monitor, and I can't imagine what those with normal-sized monitors have to deal with. I wish they'd have some hidden items on each level, like many other TM games do. Also wish more awards were given for completing different levels of activity and resource gathering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly some new features and its not bad. Its been a long time since I gave this developers TM games more than two stars, but must admit this one has quite a lot of new and interesting features even though it is also one of those 'same games'. Its hard for any TM not to follow its style. At least in this one there are lots of characters that pop up to make it half interesting. You visit 4 lands (SE) Scotland, Malta, Africa and Europe, and in this CE you get to visit 'Parellel Land' which is a bit fantasy based. (60 levels all up) There are acheivements, a good strategy guide that comes up large on the screen (but you can only access it from the menu not the game screen), three modes of play relax, normal and hard, and you can toggle these if you change your mind without losing progress. I only got through most of Scotland in the demo..but even here the tasks were varied and quite a few characters. A lockness monster who you need 'agents' to remove, a robot who needs robots (lol)., and eagles who block the road and you must build a lab and their nests to get them to fly off. The novelty is you don't know which eagle will go to which nest. So the one you wish to get out of the way may not be the one and you must try building another nest to get to what you want. That's quite clever really. And on one level I had to find the bits of a steam harvester..which cutely began mowing the wheat. Whilst mostly what you build (wood, food, workers sheds etc) is fairly hand held, I did start to have to repeat a level when I didn't build a building early enough to stock up. There is also the 'theif' that needs agents to stop the heisting. The timer is set well. There is also a room that looks like it needs decorating..but I couldn't figure out how?? I can see these devs are REALLY trying which is great. But the games lack warmth and connection or any comical element that may endear and therefore tend to become simply chore based. They dont really make me smile. If they could only throw in some collectibles, and make their graphics more friendly they may do well. This is one of their best and a huge improvement, but those little things, and a strategy guide without screen access, just make me have to say I don't love it. Try the demo, the game is a bit repetitive, but I think its not too bad really. Cheers.
