Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Long Game! For a SE this was really a long fun game. I was hooked from the beginning. No wonder there were over 100 reviews. Crossfade is next on my agenda. Good job Grandma!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game I agree with some of the other reviewers that this doesn't really have anything to do with MCF, but I don't think this series can get back to the original story line of what we all loved in the Ravenhearst story. It was a long game with great puzzles that weren't so hard you had to look up the solution on the guide, and there was lots to do. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The graphics were beautiful, and everything about it made it a game I will play again. Some of the puzzles were really great and new, that I haven't seen before, so that was a nice part of the game. Overall I think this was a great game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks for bringing MCF its glory back, GrandMA! I used to purchase every new MCF that came out every year, but I've been so disappointed in them lately that I actually skipped the last few. I saw that the franchise had changed hands from Eipix to GrandMA and decided I would give it a shot. And boy am I glad I did! The puzzles were actually fun to play and I had to stop and think about some of them instead of just blazing through. I loved the mini-puzzles that were on the tablet that Master Detective carries around. LOVED the callbacks to previous cases and they weren't done in an overly obnoxious way like some of the previous ones were prone to do. Instead, they revamped an older narrative (I won't say which one in case no one wants spoilers) and gave it a fresh coat of paint in a way that actually made sense and it was done very well. For the first time in a long time with this series, I actually dropped my jaw a couple times with the story. So congratulations, GrandMA, you brought back faith to the MCF series and I will definitely be checking out the next one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not the same but enjoyable So after reading the negative reviews I went ahead and only downloaded the trial. Well after playing the trial I bought the game. Look, it's not quite like the usual fare we get from a MCF game. So what I did was forget it was a MCF game and played it like it was an individual game and you know what? I enjoyed it. I loved the mini puzzles, I enjoyed the graphics, the story line was ok and I loved that there wasn't so much toing and froing. Yes I can understand why die hard MCF fans would be disappointed, as well as classic HOG fans, but I found it to be an enjoyable game and didn't feel that my money was wasted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who doesn't Love Grandma? She's not one of the heavy hitters, but Grandma puts out a great game. Grandma treats her gaming children as adults (which most likely they are). The graphics appear to be hand drawn and of excellent quality. The voice-overs are perfect. Wonderful and intriguing storyline. Great find-ems. Love the Tarot cards (being a Tarotist myself). Here's the difference- we have THE BIG THREE DEVELOPERS (we all know who they are) and then we have the second stringers. Why is it the second stringers put out a better product? Because they have to try harder. They have to be more inventive. That's why college football is always more satisfying to watch than the pros. Kids in college ball are hungry, therefore much more enthusiastic, inventive, exciting. I apologize for this football/adventure game comparison but it rings true. During these difficult covid times, gaming has taken on a new importance. Gaming gives players an escape- that's a heavy responsibility. Gotta love Grandma for stepping up! (I wish she'd QB for the NY Jets, she could only help! LOL)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fun! I was pleasantly surprised by this title. I expected a watered down version of what MCF use to develope, but this turned out rather enjoyable to play. Good story with little twists and turns to keep my interest peaked. The voice actors fit their role, all but for the older woman. I even enjoyed doing the bonus content and I only do those if the game holds my interest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Case for MCF For me this MCF is a successful continuation of the previous games. Of course you can see differences between Eipix and GrandMa immediately, but that's what makes the new episode so interesting. With Eipix, the mini-games were often too complicated and the graphics too gloomy for me, but that has now changed to the positive side, with elements from the previous episodes, plus great graphics, for me definitely worth buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Look for in Games! I can't tell you how many times I just stopped and admired the beautiful scenery in this game. Thank you, designers! Each screen was more breathtaking than the previous one. The HOPs are not your standard click-a-list - which can get tedious very quickly, no matter how gorgeous the scenes. These are a great collection of variations on the theme. I can say I enjoyed every one of them. They are not too hard and not pathetically easy either. I absolutely ADORE the multi-mini-game panels that are all connected for one ultimate goal... Rube Goldbergs I think they are called? Thrilling to see, because I know I will be there a while and just challenging enough not to be frustrating. And they always have a legit purpose and advance the game. Speaking of advancing the game, what about the story? Eh. Mild-mannered and misunderstood damsel in distress evolves into a powerful Banshee - whatever. But it was coherent and connected enough to gather together carnival fortune tellers, pixies, Druids, and even a leprechaun. At least they were effective vehicles to make objectives and next steps clear. LOVE Dire Grove revisit. Nice touch. Extra chapter in Collector's Edition was long and fun, too, definitely added value. I will be looking for GrandMA games now. Eipix used to be my #1 all-time favorite for outstanding mini games. They now have a rival in my house. I definitely recommend buying this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't think I would like it, but I do! I've been a Mystery Case Files fan for years, except for the Madam Fate games from that other developer. So, I braced myself for disappointment. Surprise! I am having a great time playing this one! The puzzles are just right for me--not too easy but not impossible. (I play at the easiest level always. I'm in it for fun.) I am also finding the HOPs to be excellent, with lots of variety and different levels. And again, not impossible! I'm also pleased that there is logic to the gameplay, not just a quest from one place to another to find some mysterious random-seeming object. The graphics are excellent, and I am actually enjoying the music. One thing I would suggest is that players use the "Special Features Only" tutorial. Some of the features in this game aren't in the usual places. I missed some of the items because I didn't know what to look for, and had to start over. The controls are also in different places than in past MCF games. Congratulations to Grandma Studios for this great new MCF game! I'm loving it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST DEVELOPER FOR THE CASE Seriously, GrandMa studios are one of my favourite HOPA game developers around and I’m so so happy they’ve been chosen to continue MCF. They did a fantastic job as per usual as Harbinger still feels very much like a MCF game but with the more vibrant colours and feel of a GrandMa game. Now I do understand the bad reviews as it does feel different to Eipix but honestly that’s a good thing in my opinion. Too much of a good thing eventually becomes boring so having an MCF game that’s slightly different is a refreshing change. I can not recommend this game enough!
