Ancient Wonders: Gardens of Babylon is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome game! I love this game! It really challenging! It has an option of relaxed, timed and limited moves. I am playing on limited moves, but they are very generous with the amount of moves. You are building the hanging gardens of Babylon, as you progress you get to add flowers and plants to your scene. The art is really beautiful. The puzzles are really fun too. It has you match the piece in line, which is a bit rare ( only a handful of games have it) so I think it makes it a bit more challenging than most games. I really appreciate than it has minimal bright flashes in it. It makes it possible for me to play it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Game :-) I bought this game yesterday, after trying it out..I wasn't sure I'd like it at first, but it grew on me..I wouldn't call it an amazing game: but it's enjoyable, alright..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoying This is a fun game. Best of all is the puzzles that get thrown in between. I played the demo then did purchase. I like any match games so I like the relaxation of something like this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A pretty okay "archaeology" game This review is based on the demo. It is not really a match-3 game in the classic sense. Instead of swapping tiles to perform the matches, you connect the tiles instead. The other difference is that making huge combos does not give you a power-up. Instead, you have to match "power-up" tiles in order to fill them. Otherwise the mechanics are similar to a match-3 in the sense that you need at least 3 matching tiles, the tiles drop and you often have to make matches near obstacles in order to break them. However, this game allows you to have much bigger combos than in a traditional match-3 game. The goal is to uncover artefacts hidden under the sand tiles and unblock gems, when there are any. I have a feeling that this game can get quite tricky later on. You get coins to spend on upgrades for the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Every now and then there's a puzzle minigame that breaks things up a bit. Pros: - Ancient Babylonian theme, which is quite cool in my view. It's not that common in video games. It's nice to have jigsaws and spot-the-differences based on this often, overlooked ancient culture. - The gameplay is actually kind of fun, though it wasn't super challenging in any of the levels I played in the demo. It's not a super big wow for me, it's quite reasonable. - I always love discovering things in the sand and this tickles that part of my inner child. - Seems super stable on my Mac, did not come across any bugs. Cons: - The help is a bit sparse at least for the minigames. There was one that didn't have any instructions and nothing about it is in the help section of the game. I don't know if they were there but just not visible on my tiny laptop screen. - The UI and the game, outside of the mini-games and the match-3 boards, is very, very minimalist. Usually that can be a good thing but this looks like a throwback. It's not a huge con, but it detracts from the rest of the game. - I'm not too crazy about the idea of finding archaeological artefacts and selling them for money, which this game hints at. I'm a bit on the fence about whether I will get it or not, so I can't recommend/not recommend it. It's something a bit different for match-3 fans.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Misses the mark-Played timed & Limited Move Not a fan of chain match games but this one fails on an epic level since you are not rewarded for the longer chains you make. Usually you get a bomb or something for making a chain of 7 or more. Nope not this one. So I found myself making short chains to accomplish the goal and that led to boredom.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Link style M3 released Wed 3-30-22 Based on 1hr completed demo only This is a link style M3 with intermittent MG. I do like this type of M3 normally, but this one was a little bland. -I liked the sound effects -I love when you can build an area in an M3, like this game had, but I wasn't thrilled with the area you upgraded here, or the upgrades themselves (apply a bush.) They were purchased with in-game currency but I found the items a bit boring and they were expensive. You should be able to upgrade your build scene every other level at least. - I thought the graphics were washed out and not as clear as they could be. - One of the mini-games was a jigsaw puzzle (around 30 pieces) and when it was finished it didn't stay on the screen long enough to look at the finished picture. The picture itself was rather dull anyway. -Usually in an M3 like this the longer the linked match the better. But this game has gems to drop to the bottom and artifacts you have to uncover from the sand so just pay attention to matching small matches around the artifacts so they drop into the completed tab. -I thought this game needed more glitter & bang. - The Ancient Egyptian style music was beautifully done. This M3 by Seven Sails LTD isn't a bad game; but I just wasn't wowed by it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Always happy to see a match 3 but... I just could not get into this game. First and foremost, no BIG explosion when you make running matches of huge size. Seriously, that is the best part of huge matches!! And the timer does not really give time for big matches; smaller matches are needed to clear game pieces and that got boring really fast. The bonuses do not really cut it either. The jigsaw puzzle with the ghost image took the challenge out of solving the puzzle, AND if I released a piece in the vicinity of where it goes, it would jump the piece 2 or 3 spaces away and lock it into place. As for the spot the difference, no hints are available so when I had two differences left to find after going over the pics several times, all that was left was to skip. I just did not get grabbed by the game and eventhough I have a free game available, I will not be using it on this game. Perhaps others will enjoy this but it just does not work for me. Please try it for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is an OK match 3 game The match part of the game is quite simple and fun to play but not really much of a challenge at all. The mini-games between match games aren't very good. The jigsaw puzzles are lifeless and colorless, pieces jump too far to the place they belong. The ones to spot differences are lackluster and not colorful at all. Plus those do NOT show how many differences you need to find and a couple of times I skipped after being unable to find any more missing pieces to find that there was ONE more I missed. For a casual few minutes at a time I think it was worth the reduced price but wouldn't have paid full price for it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mild M3 Entertainment From Seven Sails This isn't my style of choice with M3 games but sometimes they are unexpectedly pretty good. This one is a very simple building one. It has Relaxed, Timed and Limited Moves play modes and a moderate number of power-ups to make the game a little more interesting. The graphics are bright and colorful, very basic artwork. Nothing fancy with the items for building the gardens. The earnings will purchase what is needed to decorate them, but you need to buy them in succession. That, for me, is not fun. The objective is to uncover the artifacts that are hidden under the sand, that will be used in the game. Extremely easy, the game progressed very quickly, as a result I felt no sense of gratification. It became boring. There are mini games but I got to play only one which I will call a "drop box" (?), it was crazy-simple, not fun. My demo was cut short so I'm unable to report on any additional games. I do know there are spot-the-difference and jigsaws, wish I could have tried them out. So my thoughts are that this game is very light entertainment. Great for those who may not care all that much about lots of hectic board action and big, bright explosions. This M3 provides some laid back gameplay to fill some free down-time when you're looking to relax a little. You can enjoy building the Gardens of Babylon at your own pace with your choice of play modes. I think these choices should always be available in Match 3 games. The game is fine if not looking for challenge or the opportunity to strategize. I need both to make it a fun experience, so this will be a pass for me. Hopefully, the demo will give you a good time and this will be a new addition to your Match 3 collection.
