Customer Reviews
Catherine Ragnor and the Cursed Island is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHY I BOUGHT THIS EPISODE Played on Win 10, Relaxed Mode I love Match3 games with a good storyline. The sameness of the board doesn't bother me, but other elements really bother me a lot. 1. The blinkers. Ye Gods and Little Angels, the blinkers drive me bananas. Those are the tiles that blink through the icons so you can click on the tile icon you want to make a match. In some storied M3's, like the Amanda's Magic Book series, they are all over the board, overwhelming the game play. I just click them off as fast as I can. This episode of Catherine Ragnor is not blink crazy and I was able to mostly ignore them. 2. Spiders. I hate the spiders, those messy little critters that weave a web over your tiles, making them inaccessible until you match the tiles with 2 more of the same. You can get rid of spiders by making matches beneath them, but here's where it gets stinky: in some M3's, the spiders weave faster than you can make matches, or there are no matches available, anywhere on the board, to make them go away. I have not run into that problem in this Ragnor episode. 3. Edward the Blade is one weird-looking duck, and I keep playing because I'm trying to figure out what the attraction is. What can I say; I'm all for character over looks, but... 4. This episode is just plain fun. Since I do have a life, I have to be careful not to get too wrapped up in the game play, buying upgrades to find out what happens next, putting said life aside for the sheer enjoyment and glee of the game. Yeah. Doesn't always work, and I fear this episode has chained me to the board. Yaha matey!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from YEAH, IT FINALLY WORKS ON LARGE SCREENS! I wasn't able to play the last two games because it didn't adjust to fit my 38" curved Alienware monitor and most of the icons for the various features were cut off at the bottom of the screen. The devs must have made an adjustment because this one finally worked perfectly! I wish BF would allow you to give half stars because honestly, I'd give this game 3.5 stars. It's a decent Match 3 game but it's really no different than the other games, therefore I don't see a need to purchase another. For those who are looking for a decent story, the Match 3 games by this developer seem to have that down pat. The Match 3 game itself is a non-stressful, relaxing game, even when playing on the Timed Mode. The music is light-hearted and upbeat, with tiles that are large enough to see, even when they are covered by obstacles. As you progress, random Powerups become available, two of which are offered on each level. They have added Bonus Powerups that appear on the board as well, a Match 5 adds a Medium Bomb that clears 8 Tiles, and a Match 7 adds a Massive Bomb that clears a whopping 20 Tiles. The only downfall is that you have to double-click the bomb where it sits, it doesn't let you swipe the bomb directionally before it detonates. -Dagger: removes 5 horizontal Tiles -Pirate's Hook: removes a single Tile or Chain -Small Axe: clears a 2x2 Area -Catherine's Pistol: removes 5 Vertical Tiles -Trident: clears an entire Vertical Column -Cutlass: clears an entire Horizontal Row A few of the levels require you to drop Amulets off the board but most of the levels simply require you to make matches over all grey cells and clear a specified number of a specified tile. The only obstacles they really have are Vines and Spider Webs, they have a ton of Wooden Crates as well. The weirdest part is that none of the wooden crates have hidden grey cells under them, and about 50% of the vines & spiderweb covered icons are just there for appearance because there is no benefit to match them, they aren't blocking anything, and there are no grey cells under them...this is one of the biggest reasons these games are so easy to master!
