Lily's Epic Quest is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very challenging match 3! This is my second favorite game ever. (Legendary Slide is 1st.) It does require patience and deliberate planning. You can let rocks drop into empty spaces to create better matches for power ups. You have to be careful where you make your paths because the path will block rocks from dropping. Some of the levels are pretty hard to complete but the challenge is what makes it fun. (I found a diamond worth $1,000,000 which opened up additional power up slots; that makes it easier to go deep and find better treasures.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Different! So the first reviewer was completely correct - poor tutorial and you make lots of mistakes in the beginning trying to figure it out - like when the jewels sparkle, and you match them, and two white things bounce out - what are they? Do I want them? Finally got some and learned they each give you an extra turn. Didn't take long to figure out that I'd best move the girl close before I make my next match cuz she moves like a snail. Yes, part of the screen is hidden which makes completing your mission harder, but I think it adds to the strategy. I like exploring everywhere by getting extra turns and using the powerups. Definitely harder than the typical game which immediately made me love it. Buying it even before the trial runs out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE FIRST FEW LEVELS I HATED, THEN IT BECAME ADDICTING WITH OUT OF THE BOX THINKING FEATURES! When I first saw Lily's Epic Quest, I thought for sure it was another RPG. Then I discovered that it was a Match 3 game, and figured it was probably an outdated game BF found hidden in the vault. The cartoonish storyline didn't help sway my already made up mind, and Lily's voice (imagine an adult pretending to talk like a child) almost had me scrambling to the exit door. The tutorial came next, Grandpa's extremely large hand makes a cameo (fingereo?) to shows you how to move the tiles, about as basic as you can get. I played the first level, not impressive, I had no idea what to do, or where to go, and why I could move some tiles, not others. The second level was a little better, I was finally discovering what to do, but not where to go to do the things I needed to do. By the third level, I found myself baffled and running out of moves before achieving the goals. I played the third level over twice before I had that, aha moment! You don't always have to find a treasure, sometimes you need to backtrack, you can't pick up a bonus you already have (so use it or lose it) some items are more valuable than others (so pick and choose) if you finish the goal levels with moves to spare, you can choose to continue the level and possible find more treasure, (or you can simply move on to the next level) some terrain requires you to progress further to be able to dig further down (mud, dirt, sand, pebble etc.) And Lily can't dig through stone (she's just a kid) Basically, when you make a Match of 3 or more blocks, horizontally, vertically or both (I'm not positive, but I believe you uncover Power-ups when you make larger matches) the blocks matched will be removed, which opens up a path. You must strategically make matches that will allow Lily to be able to move in the desired direction. Then you simply drag Lily through the freshly blown path, and continue this process. Each Match you make counts towards your specified number of Limited Moves, but moving Lily doesn't count, so move her all you want or need to. Power-ups that are uncovered, must be picked up quickly, or they will disappear, and you need them! The Drill power-up is one of the most useful bonuses, because you can choose where to place it, then drag the direction you wish to drill, either vertically or horizontally, and it will blow through the entire row or column. Another useful power-up is the Detector, placing the detector almost anywhere will show you the area you want to work towards to find an amazing treasure. Treasures vary as far as value goes, gems, crystals, even dinosaur bones have a star value of 1-5, so you may find the same treasure, and even though it's identical, the first one you find may only be a worth one star, the next may be worth two stars. At the beginning of each level, the goals are given to you. You may be required to find a specific item, or you may only need to drill downward for 20-25 meters. Finding treasure on these levels are still possible, but not required to pass the level. Just two suggestions for playing this game. First of all, EXPLORE! That's what this game is all about, exploring and finding things you didn't know were there. Secondly and probably more importantly, give the game a chance. If you stick with it long enough to catch on, you will realize that this Match 3 game requires some "out of the box" thinking! I applaud the devs for being able to take an ordinary Match 3 game, and turn it into a game that's never been done before to my knowledge, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Digging for elusive treasure This game is nicely different, and I've ended up happily using a game credit on it. I was completely mystified by this game to begin with. The tutorial made it look simple, but when I tried level 1 I could see very little of the board, and couldn't figure what to do. I almost gave up, but I think that there was a glitch in the game. Moral of the story: if in doubt, reboot! When I did, I could see more of the board, and I also found I could move Lily into the spaces that I opened up with matches (you can move her at any time and it doesn't cost one of the limited moves available to meet the goal). I could also send her to collect the bonuses, or extra moves. All of a sudden, I could see the treasures I was aiming for! Once I got the hang of it, the game became ridiculously compelling. The storyline isn't anything special and the sound effects get slightly wearing, but overall it's a lot of fun (once it works!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustration and unable to finish game I really enjoyed this game at first. I thought Lily was quite cute. However with advancing through the levels, I found myself going up and down the ladders numerous times so that the game got really boring. There isn't much help in the tutorial so information is limited. I've spent hours playing the game, have reached the center of the earth several times, but have yet to figure out how to move the lava blocks. On the very first level there are some locked areas. I have yet to be able to open those. Just up and down trying to get more moves, drills and dynamite. I tried looking on the Internet for hints but there are no sites where one can get more information about ways to play the game. Hardly any reviews and the game has been out since September 2016. I wonder why there is so little information out there. I would recommend this game only if you enjoy lots of frustration.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This Could Be Good I wanted to love this game, but found myself logging out of it after a short time playing the demo. I like the idea of it, the sketchy storyline is lame but alright, and the idea of digging for treasures is a nice spin on the usual match 3 concept. The tutorial was too short, the actual playing area was tiny, with some of the matches the tutorial wanted you to make to learn off the small screen area. Half of the play area is your goals. That should have been play area imo. It needed to be. When I actually started playing the game after getting through that I was confronted with powerups I didn't know about, which were time limited to retrieve and long gone by the time I sorted that part out. I had a goal to collect a treasure of some sort and no idea what it was I needed to find on the small play area. I play hundreds of games so do not think it was my set up. With only maybe four or five tiles wide and about as deep vertically, there is limited ability to plan or aim for a needed treasure to collect. Tiles do not drop, you need that space to have the toon able to run and collect things. This is an effort for something new in match 3 and is almost there. I wanted to like it. I applaud the developers for the effort. Do try it and see what you think. It is not for me, however. I rated it at 3 because it is OK. Just not for me for the above reasons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This has got to be the worst game ever Sounds interesting, but when you get the game its terrible. No instructions that amount to anything. I've been playing and love match three games for years but this one stinks. Plus there is no option to play it not in full screen mode. Don't waste your time on this lousy game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Your moves are so limited and once you make a match, there are empty holes, gems are not always available so, is very frustrating. Thumbs down.
