Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Was "Beyond": My expectations :) Beyond: Star Descendant has been sleeping in my GM since 10/23/17 and I just got around to playing it. I did not expect to like it but boy was I surprised :) You can read some excellent story-lines reviews so well written by some of my fellow Fishies but I just have to say I really liked it [ ;) even the cute tiny Chameleon rolling his eyes :) in one of the hops] Don't get me wrong, this is not a 'perfect game' but I found it different in many smell ways and also found myself using the dreaded hint button more than once LOL ! By the way, I do like Sci-Fi but never have play a sci-fi game before an I have hundreds of games in my collections. If you are looking for a 'something a little different, give this one a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fly Through The Stars Brilliant game, plenty of searching and fixings things together, travelling to other worlds. It kept the game going at times just a little predictable, but still quite different to many other games. The interaction of Thomas and his mother made it more realistic and really liked that. The music was brilliant any chance of the soundtrack for download. It was soothing, deep and relaxing the best I've heard in any game I've played. Please make that available. Could do without the horror house section but I see how if fits into the game. Also the voices of the testers was deep and strong brilliant more human like just exactly how I like it. Not weak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Star Descendant is BEYOND my expectations For some reason sci-fi games are not my cup of tea which is strange to me since I enjoy movies, TV shows and novels of that ilk. I bought the CE version and find this game to be one of the better offerings during 2016. A lad named Thomas is opening birthday presents while his mom Sara is baking cookies. One gift has strange powers and leads Thomas to leave home where he is suddenly transported to a weird amusement park called Kosmos and subsequently to the planet Nenshe where he is abducted by Kaine who claims to be the lads father. The mom of course follows her son in order to rescue and return home and this is where the fun starts. The game is gorgeous to look at and characters are extremely life like. As Saras quest evolves there is an element of fantasy in some of the creatures she meets along the way. As is a must in any HOPA I purchase the story line must hold my interest and this saga does that. The HO segments and puzzles are extremely well done. At the start of moms adventure she embarks on a roller coaster ride that is so realistic that some players might get dizzy. I thoroughly enjoyed that some of the puzzles have some originality and not just being variations on often used puzzles. Mad Head games have become some of the best developments and Beyond Star Descendant is fantastic. My recommendation is to acquire the CE version for a couple of reasons. The bonus chapter predates Thomas and gives players a needed insight into why Kaine became who he is. The collectibles ( rockets of various shapes ) are nicely interspersed within each screen setting and some hard to locate. There is also a second bonus consisting of an extra HO segment where more than 50 items must be found. Those players who did not buy the CE should get this SE and also consider the higher priced version because it offers so much more, particularly to the story. This is to me a top 5 game of this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than fascinating What a great game this is. I sit here playing with my mouth open. Totally new sceneries - not fantasy but science-fiction, i love it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Duct tape fixes everything, even in space! I disagree with some of the other reviewers who say this game is better than the first Beyond game: Light Advent. Still, this game totally delivers in the Mad Head style that I've come to love and expect. It's all there: great characters, creative environment, immersive story line, varied game play. I enjoyed this game immensely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware the strange birthday present It's Thomas' birthday and it seems to be going perfectly until he opens a package with no card. What's this? A strange device that opens the secret access to a forgotten room. Thomas finds clues that the woman he calls Mom has been lying to him all his life. Thomas runs away and is followed by his Mother through portals, strange worlds, and, ultimately, smack into his crazy, power-hungry father Kaine. Don't expect a tearful reunion. What I love about Mad Head games is that they don't let any opportunity for a puzzle or game go to waste. There is something to do or fix or solve at every turn. The games are usually quite long and challenging. And, the roller coaster was certainly unexpected!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the first one and this one didn't disappoint I was attracted to the first Beyond game just because it was something different to the ghosts and spirits usually found in HOG's. It was fun and challenging and so is this one. The storyline follows on from the first instalment but you don't need to have played to understand this one. I really enjoy the intergalactic theme and the game was challenging enough that I had to turn on hints & skips near the end. It was a good long play and provided enough variety to keep me engaged to the finish. Highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible graphics If it were only about graphics, this game gets 5 stars. If you like science fiction, this game is right up your alley. However, the story bogs down 1/3 way into the game and figuring out where to go next and what to do is not always logical. I had to use the Hint quite a bit to get through the game. I also didn't particularly care for the mini games, which had poor instructions or had me wondering what the logical end point is. It is a long game, and just when you think you are near the end, nope, it was a red herring. Do I regret purchasing the game? No, the artwork and special effects are phenomenal. It may be a game I enjoy the 2nd time around. It has a lot to offer, but probably geared towards expert level players.
