Spellspire is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from How good is your vocabulary? The more words you know the better. You also need to strategize. What is the best equipment to bring? How about the stuff that you can pick up and put in your bag? (HInt, if you are going for the star make sure that you have at least one potion) Is it better to find a long word to flatten an opponent? Or a fusillade of three letter words will work better? Fast thinking and vocabulary. And FUN

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Thinking Is A Must! Spellspire is similar to games like WordRage where you need to make words from letters presented to you. In this game, you face a line of monsters who have different degrees of strength. Whenever you spell a word from the letters given, the monster gets zapped and disappears. However, the monsters are not defenseless. If you take too long to submit a word then you get zapped by the monster. And as you go along, each different monster will be stronger. My strategy is to use the shorter words first and save the longer words for the stronger monsters. Each monster you defeat you are given coins which you can use to purchase items that will probably be helpful to you. I was in the shop many, many times; I needed the extra help. I enjoy word games and I really enjoyed this one. Gives my old brain some much needed exercise. Plus I found the cartoon drawings cute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At last! A new word game! Loving this little game! Unlike Letter Quest and Bookworm Adventures, you keep the same set of tiles and make additional words from them to defeat the monsters. Like Letter Quest, you can upgrade your wand, hat, and dress. You can also carry extra help in a backpack. Remembering which words you've already used can be challenging...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this spell game This game has everything that BookWorm has except the story line. I still love BookWorm but this game has a few differences in the bonus system. Also its a little harder, I think. Worth a look if you like this type of game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oddly Fun I haven't yet played the whole game but while it seemed a little childish at first it became oddly fun and then quite a challenge. OK some of the words it allows and suggests can seem a little odd and there are words it won't accept but mostly it's a fun game to dip in and out of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from On demo stuck level 10 only with ONE monster I have played that kind of game on internet, (free game) with 8 letters max and beavers, I loved this game so I try this one. This game is cute, funny and entertaining, but also difficult you can not Watch the wizard and monsters and find words, you have to be focused a lot. Monsters are cute, rewards interesting and even replaying the levels Under 10 with new weapons, I was not able to destroy the monster. I am not fast enough. They should not have given the solutions for the words because the letters are the same at every level. Very good game for children.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun if you know how to spell You fight zombies and monsters as you spell words from scrambled letters. You can also buy upgrades to your weapon and wardrobe as you earn coins after each round. This game sort of reminds me of Bookworm Deluxe which has been a long time favorite.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from like the old one This is just like a game call bookworm boring after a while and you need to be a little fast

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Valid words are not recognised I agree with a previous reviewer who said that this game does not recognise many perfectly valid words from regular dictionaries or scrabble. It takes most of the enjoyment out of it and the gameplay quite difficult. The graphics are dull also. I think you have to be a total 'word buff' to be good at this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from TOO MANY LEGITIMATE WORDS AREN'T ACCEPTABLE WHICH ISN'T ACCEPTABLE! This game brought back fond memories of some long-forgotten Word Games like Bookworm and Word Womp but at least those games accepted legitimate words that can be found in any English Dictionary. It clearly doesn't accept spelling preferences outside of North America either as stated by the reviewers from New Zealand and Australia. For example: Recognize is preferred in American and Canadian English, while Recognise is preferred outside North America and the same rule applies for Realize versus Realise It doesn't accept common words that can be used in two different ways (either/or) such as Blue and Bleu. It accepts Blue but not Bleu even though both are acceptable and technically, Bleu is correct when referencing Roquefort Bleu Cheese. The latter issue could be easily solved by adding a Language or Country preference, otherwise, the game seems to be programmed to look for, and even prefer, Affixes (prefix/suffix) over words with unusual spelling. If it was just a matter of recognizing or recognising the pattern of acceptable words, the game could potentially be enjoyable for a select group of players who are at least somewhat knowledgable of spelling correctly and the ability to quickly click on the letters because a certain amount of manual dexterity is required. Personally, I wasn't crazy about the "batteling of zombies" scenario, I'd much rather race against a clock to spell as many words as possible. There are 100 levels and 22 Achievements, and you can replay the levels with the Stars you earn, Coins are used to upgrade your wizard. You can upgrade his Wand, Robe, Hat, and Bag (to hold more items) which basically gives you more "health" to last longer against those word-hating zombies, and you can sell some of the items you don't want. Occasionally, you will receive a Dictionary which automatically finds the longest word available and various other potions and spells. There is a Treasure Chest full of various coins and stars that can be opened every 8 hours but I'm not sure whether that means 8 hours of actual gameplay or just 8 hours on the clock.
