Memoirs of Murder: Welcome to Hidden Pines Collector's Edition is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Enjoyable and Fun Game This review is a little late after playing it twice, but this was an enjoyable fun game. A good mystery, and no ghost or magic or short side kicks to deal with, Puzzles we just challenging enough not to force you to skip or run to the strategy guide. the extra game was fun also. I would recommend this game to all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I REALLY LIKED THIS GAME Finally a realistic game. This was very enjoyable for me. I loved roaming around the town solving a murder mystery. The choice of what character you played was unique too. The graphic and voice overs were also excellent. I've played better games before but this game deserves five stars if nothing else for the fact that there were no monsters, ghosts, or floating cities. Good job!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More of these please!! I'm only half way through the game but I had to stop and write a review. I LOVE this game! I wish there were more like this. I love murder mysteries, but many are dark and dreary. Not this one! I sincerely hope they make a second one like this. It's fun playing as both characters (like Dark Romance games) and trying to clear your spouse of murder without even being a detective! This game is really fun and I hope you give it a try!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prove Your Spouse is Innocent! Find the Culprit! I was very pleasantly surprised by this game. I sat down to play it and was thrilled by what I saw. The game starts with giving you, the player, the choice on who you want to start telling the story. The story being about how this couple (Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher) moved to Hidden Pines and one was framed for the murder of the mayor's wife. The story covers proving their innocence and finding evidence against the culprit, and getting the arrested. From the start, that was a neat feature. I want to go back and play as the husband, as I chose to start with the wife in my first time playing. I love that this is a classic case of "Who did it?" and "Why?" No monsters of any sort, unless you count the monster hidden in the heart of any human (like greed). They have you collect clues, among everything else you do, and use an evidence board. The first is in your new home, and the bonus chapter has it set up in the police station. Collectibles in this game are presents. There's one in every scene. There are also morphing objects in the hidden object scenes and souvenir mustaches (props) that you can collect post-game. I really don't have anything negative to say about this game. The visuals/locations are lovely. The sound/voice acting is great. The story is classic and fun. The level of challenge is "just right". I had a lot of fun playing this game, and I plan to go back and play again soon! If I did have a complaint, it would be an error in game that they later fixed. So... can that still register as a complaint? I don't know... I do kind of wish that they would have added a few extra touches. Like more story about the (dead) wife, as we see and hear so little about her. The beginning has the characters offer to tell the story to a young woman. Who is this young woman? Their daughter, maybe? The dog ran away, and the maid went after it. Any update on that? The bonus chapter had me wanting to know if the victim was okay after the attempt on their life. Just minor things that don't really do anything to the game or my enjoyment playing it. This game had me believing one thing, only to be proven wrong and pleasantly surprised on how they handled the events in game. The achievements are fun. There's even one for listening to an old man who works at the docks tell a story. If you listen, your character immediately starts yawning and dozes off. You wake up 10 minutes later and get the achievement, while the character reminds you that you "don't have time for that". The bonus chapter was a nice touch, and it took place post-(main) game. There are nods to other games. One I can think of, as they mention it repeatedly, is the Dead Reckoning series. Overall, I have to admit that this was an amazing game. I hope they do more of these types of games, or even make this a series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Good Old Fashioned Murder Mystery! Bought this the other day and it does not disappoint. I am more than three quarters of the way through and it is just so refreshing to play a 'normal' game (no ghosts, evil aliens etc). that's not to say i don't enjoy the odd journey into fantasy/sci-fi. Playing both characters at various stages adds to the fun and excitement that is to be had playing this game. Bravo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mystery HOG with a twist I really like this game. Firstly because as another viewer as said it is not "cookie cutter" The HOS have a lot of different variants, which keeps your interest up; some I've not seen before in other games. The collectible is "only" a gift box, and most are easy, but I missed a few that were really well hidden, and some because I got so caught up in the game I forgot to look. Fortunately, after you finish the bonus game it lets you go back and find them. Also the "Secret Room" in the extras has a nice twist in making you do more to find the objects and most were cleverly hidden! I'm glad I got the CE, but even an SE version would be good, because there is some first class sleuthing here. Occasionally you get to switch identities between the husband and wife protagonist, which worked very well. There were a couple of great red herrings too! The graphics were well done and true to the time period. I also loved the old timey map which was drawn like a tourist map:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These Memoirs are Very Welcome and will be Well-Remembered Thrilling, funny, entertaining! Just completed this game and enjoyed it tremendously. Changing the player’s character is not new, but I’ve never seen this variation: you can play as Mary, your partner Aaron gets arrested or you can play as Aaron - and Mary gets arrested. The first part of the game is a double bill. With great attention to detail everything giving away the identity of your player is changed: you see yourself as Mary in the mirror or as Aaron, you sign the guest book with the according name, you visit your partner in the cell. Later on you play as her or as him. The story is good, the graphics are beautiful, the puzzles interesting, most of them were great variations I had never played before. The HOP’s are outstanding, plates overflowing with fresh ideas, twists and humour. Main Story and Bonus Chapter are a treat, extras are very well done. I particularly liked the Mustache Pedia. And I love having the possibility to toggle pop ups. Great feature! Kudos to the devs! Extremely well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Tops! Oh, I do love this game! It has everything that makes me happy and it is a good length. I'll keep it short and sweet. The storyline is excellent. The graphics are beautiful, The characters, dialogue, background detail, scenery are done without flaw. Really top notch! How wonderful to drop in on the 80s again. My memory banks are overflowing with so many great images from that era. I love that we have a murder mystery and setting that is so similar to Murder She Wrote (loved that series!), right down to the seaside village locale. Throw in a bunch of great puzzles and HOGs, some goofy humor, smile at the typical personality types, check out the 80s detail along the way, get busy solving a fun murder mystery and you have a fantastic game to keep you occupied for a good while. I do hope that we see more of these lovely games. We need to shoot all the demons, monsters, witches and soul stealers to the moon! Seriously...too many, for too long, too unnecessary to make a game entertaining. Plus. IMO, it just is not healthy! Thanks Big Fish for bringing us a refreshing new series. The game was so enjoyable and I hope it will receive great reviews, so that this and other developers are encouraged to keep creating them. God Bless....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have 100s of Hidden Object games but rarely review.... I have been playing games from BF for 8 years now but due to the fact that most games are reviewed by people that have written hundreds of reviews and usually do a great job at it, I almost never submit a review. However, after playing this game in its entirety, I simply had to review it. Everything about this game was new and exciting. It really was a truly unique experience. Although I always buy CE versions of games, I often don't play all of the extras, particularly if I haven't been completely satisfied by the initial game. Not only did I do all of the multitude of extras, I even watched the credits to complete my achievements. The story was wonderful and really was a head scratcher. The way that the characters worked and allowed the player to switch who they were playing as, was not necessarily a new twist but was done really well. And the HOPs were fantastic. They were all different and interesting enough that I played all of them again after the initial game and the bonus games were complete. But the truly unique aspect to this game was the way that the souvenir extra was done. I won't spoil it for those who haven't played it, but, trust me, it was a souvenir set up I had never seen before and really enjoyed. If you are an old HOP gamer like myself, believe me when I tell you that you will truly be happy you invested in this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of fun solving crimes I completely enjoyed this game. It's fun to switch between husband and wife and in some areas have them working together. I loved the plot, the way everything was played out and it didn't involve magic, monsters (except the human kind), devils or other unworldly critters. It was lighthearted fun if you can call a murder mystery lighthearted. I liked the variety in puzzles including in HOGs and the different characters presented. The game reminded me both of Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote) and Dead Reckoning games which I have played over and over. As always, play the trial first to see if it fits your playing style. A big thank you to BFG and ERS for this game.
