Memoirs of Murder: Resorting to Revenge is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only only one criticism but loved it. This was a good game and a lot of play for not being the longer version. My only problem was many of the puzzles directions were to short on info. I could not figure out what the heck to do. The last one. I could not get anything to move. It was a let down for many puzzles cause I could not either figure out what I was supposed to do, or like the hunter game, I would get to where I was supposed to be but I lost. No way to figure out why. Missed out of several puzzles and just skipped them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The HOP thickens I suppose we amuse ourselves with our own efforts to solve puzzles. We can be challenged, and escape the weight of being land mammals, in one. To be a successful hidden object game, the developers and artists must build a story that is compelling, locations that are interesting and memorable, allow us to make mistakes yet recover without trauma or injury. The talent this team wields is pretty awesome. Thank you all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the Snow scenes I really enjoyed this game. It had been a while since Ive beaten a HOG as I have been away. This was a very pleasant welcome back to Bigfish gaming! I loved the story line and all of the great characters. It was like watching an Agatha Christie mystery play out. I loved all of the great scenes inside and out of the Lodge. I highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game I enjoyed this game a lot. No Collector's price for a lot of game play. It took some hours to get through and i really liked the characters. The scenery is crisp and clear. Not hard, not easy. Just a bit of fun. Challenging enough. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm really enjoying it. You've won an all expenses paid trip on-board a train to a winter lodge. That's where things start to go awry. I'm really enjoying it. I haven't finished the game yet, but, I find the story enjoyable, and the characters likable. It's not the creepy dark genre we've seen so much of. I find the mini games very challenging. I like the HO scenes. Unlike the other review, I had no problem finding items in them. I like this developer, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story ends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A step in a better direction It has been so hard to find games in the last few years that have any unique qualities to them but this game was a step in the right direction! I loved the story and that it was a bit different from all the other hidden object/adventure games out there right now. Still would love to see something completely fresh and new but this felt like a great start! Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Who-Dun-It This is posted after playing the entire game. I really enjoyed this game. It has a lot of differences from most games, especially NO ghosts, goblins, or things that go bump in the night. I wish the developers would get away from the mystical and go to the mysteries more. The graphics are more toward the cartoon than an attempted realism, but they are well done. Effects and music, which was rather pleasant, went along with the action in the scene. Voice overs were very well done. The actors voices were excellent, even though I couldn't see the lips in most scenes. Hidden objects were varied and very challenging in most instances. Some were down right hard. I think I had to use my hint more in this game than usual. The mini games were a nightmare! I didn't understand what I was to do most of the time and the others were well past my patience level. I used the custom setting so the skip was quickly available and used regularly. Most developers offer an alternative game to hidden objects, which I have never understood since these are hidden object games. Why don't they offer an alternative for mini games. Just a thought. I had the most difficulty with the map. I know it sounds weird, but it was the hardest thing to get use to and didn't seem to get better as the game progressed. Really enjoyed the story. Big Fish and other reviewers will give you an idea of the story line, but let me just say, it is easy to follow and kept my interest all the way through. Just when I thought I had it all figured out.... wham, here came a curve that changed my thinking. Great story! The greatest plus for this game... it wasn't supernatural in anyway. Please Big Fish, encourage the developers to create more of this genre. Give the demo a shot and see if you won't like it also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ~~~MEMOIRS OF MURDER SERIES HAS POTENTIAL!~~~ Memoirs of Murder: Resorting to Revenge is the second installment in Eipix Entertainment‘s old-school detective series; the first game was Memoirs of Murder: Welcome to Hidden Pines CE. I was hyped to see another addition of this series because I thoroughly enjoyed the first one, which earned an overall 4 star rating from reviewers. The downside is that "Memoirs of Murder" CE earned an overall 3 star rating from reviewers, which I think is accurate. I chose the 4 star rating because I think this edition is equally as good as the original. Like other game members, I was hoping that this sequel would be even better but after playing the entire game I concluded that this game did not supersede my expectation of its predecessor. Once again you'll be playing dual roles both as Mary Fletcher and Aaron Fletcher in an all-inclusive vacation to Pinecone Hill which is short-lived when you spot a mysterious man on the train right before a horrifying murder occurs! Can you solve the mystery and put and end to this sinister scenario before things get even more out of hand? Resorting to Revenge follows the traditional who-dun-it mystery theme of the first game. In fact, the first chapter of the game reminds me of Agatha Christie’s classic Murder On the Orient Express. It is indeed a refreshing change to play a HOPA that features a realistic and old-school theme instead of an elaborate fantasy theme filled with demons, spells, and fairies. It is also a plus that the storyline in Resorting to Revenge is satisfyingly suspenseful and complex, even though there are several moments that drag a little. It's worth noting that the scenes in this game are brilliantly drawn and realistically brought to life by pleasant colors and subtle special effects. The voice-overs are appropriate and the music effectively raises the sense of urgency of the game. The music isn't repetitive either (no one likes to play HOPA's with mundane repetitive background music). Another positive aspect of the game is that the hidden object scenes and the puzzles are quite creative and extremely entertaining, even if they are not the most stimulating examples from Eipix’s extensive portfolio. I chose the CE version and I completed the main game in just under four hours and the bonus chapter in 55 minutes. The Collector’s Edition also includes the usual bling: a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, videos, soundtracks, repayable hidden object scenes, replayable puzzles, mahjong, a souvenir room, achievements, collectibles, and morphing objects. The SE version might be something to consider because I didn't think the extras offered in the CE version were worth the money. I do look forward to another chapter of this murder mystery series...and I hope developers raise the bar too. Cheers! * See current favorite if your looking for a decent Murder Mystery that is unique and engaging IMHO.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New England Adventure Mary and Aaron Fletcher are thrown into a mystery again! This is the second in the series with Welcome to hidden pines being the first. I liked the throw back to Dead Reckoning. In my opinion the game starts out slow but builds. The more I played the more I liked it. I liked this one so much more than the first one in the series. I really enjoyed it. I would of liked the hops to be just lists but some are interactive and more puzzle like and I'm a hops player. The mini-games run easy to difficult. Very mixed. (Checkers to a puzzle I couldn't figure out with the guide as I bought the CE- the flagmen puzzle.) I would of liked all the puzzles easy. The arrow puzzle you can't skip but you mark it and don't shoot it. Over all I liked it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Based on the Demo I thought the demo of Resorting to Revenge was more promising than the first Memoirs of Murder, but that's not saying a whole lot since I only gave Welcome to Hidden Pines one star. Still, I think you might like it if, like me, you're sick and tired of good fairies, bad fairies, magic crystals, mixing herbal remedies, "helpful" gadgets, or on the other end of the spectrum, evil scientists, evil sorcerers, statues going on murderous rampages, paintings that come to life and go on murderous rampages, etc., etc., etc. There is nothing at all challenging about any of the HOS or puzzles. It's an easy game -- some might say too easy. But there is an intriguing plot hook at the end of the demo, and since I have a couple of game credits and a coupon, I'll put it on my possibles list. Please try before you buy.
