Crystal Pixels is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Entertaining and Fun! Having played it, I am buying it. So simple and fun, and honestly, I never would have guessed it could be so relaxing finger painting in the numbers. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GIVE IT A CHANCE The very first item in the Review Guidelines is: "Don't use reviews to report technical issues. Please view our Help pages for commonly asked questions and for technical assistance." Obviously Pennmom36 was having a technical issue with her screen display and was unable to play enough of the game to give it a FAIR review. I played 53 minutes of the 60 minute trial which included 16 images out of the 100 available in the game. Obviously, this will be a long game. I stopped because I wanted to see what progress I'd made so I could include it in this review. I had no display issues or any other problems at all. As most games, it started out easy and then the images got more complex and with more colors presented better graphics than Pennmom36 obviously saw. Before I left the game the image I was working on had 17 colors. One thing I missed with this game was the ability to double click and fill in a large area of connected numbers of the same color. With this game, you will have to move your cursor over every single box. The game did make this easier by highlighting the numbers that you are currently working on and as soon as you finished with that color, you did not have to click on your pointer to stop that color and start the new one. It is actually possible to complete some of the less complex images without ever taking your pointer off the screen and just dragging over the boxes. And if you color an incorrect box, the number inside turns red and you can paint over it when you get to that color. I like this way of handling errors better than shading out the box which makes it hard to see the number inside. This is a definite buy for me, and I recommend this game. But as with all games, use the free trial to make up your own mind.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad for a first effort, and it gets intricate later. I am giving it the benefit of a doubt. I can see that a lot of time has been put into making this game. It has potential and I bought it. I love this type of game. You can't go by the first pictures. The game gets really intricate and challenging with hundreds of pixels on each picture, more than I have seen on other games. But it has some down sides, too. I haven't run across the option of filling in large areas at one time, though there might be. And the large pictures will take a long time, yet if you get out of the game after doing part of a picture, and back in, my picture disappeared and I had to start over! Not a good thing. So be prepared to finish a picture in one session or keep the game on the screen until you can go back and finish the picture. But since it is keeping me interested enough to play, I am giving it a 3.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing so far I also liked the Crystal Mosaics game, and I love the Pixel Art series, so I had hopes this would be good. Based only on the demo, I'm not encouraged. First, the colors should live up to the "crystal" name more than they do. Second, having every space/pixel be a little square isn't interesting. Third, I'd really like a way to fill in an area like the Pixel Art ones have. These pictures (so far) look like they were originally designed for another Mosaics game and were just tossed into this format. This will go into my waiting list to use up a punch card coupon for when I'm bored, although I enjoy replaying the Pixel Art ones enough to keep me happy for a while.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Boring and annoying. I can sometimes forgive a boring game if it has music I like. But this game's music is annoying and the game itself bored me. I realize that the first couple of pictures should be simple ones, to introduce new players to the concept and how everything works. But a whole level of this? This game lacks a feature that Pixel Art has that is essential in this sort of "color-by-number" game: the ability to quickly fill in large areas. Any game that doesn't have this feature will be a 'no sale' for me. That, combined with the rest, means that for me, this is indeed not a game I will purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ABOUT AS BASIC AS BASIC GETS WITH SEVERAL MECHANICAL FLAWS I love Crystal Mosaics which is a beautiful Mosaic puzzle game series but BFG took a whirl at developing a Pixel Art game to board the increasingly popular "paint by numbers" Zen Train, but it's about as basic as it gets. For starters, the game is stretched with a bar at the top and bottom, if you deselect the "widescreen" mode it simply makes the stretched middle section smaller, but it still has the bar at the top and bottom. If you deselect the "fullscreen" option, it gives you a windowed mode that still looks stretched and still has the bar at the top and bottom. Every time I clicked into the Help screen, or Option screen, the game would freeze. the resolution was way off scale, often cutting off important features such as the Color Palette which makes the game kind of pointless! As for the levels I could actually access, you can zoom in and out, fit the image on the page, and select the colors to fill in the number related pixels, as well as click and hold to drag the entire image around the screen. The images are lackluster, however, I did like the feature on some of the images that allowed you to fill in the entire background but it would have been better if the background had more than one color or at least multi-highlighted.
