Dark Romance: Ashville Collector's Edition is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard Game I usually love these type of games. This game didn't make sense and was hard to follow. It wasn't that enjoyable. I have all the other Dark Romance games and this one is the worst. I was very disappointed. I hope that the next game will be a lot better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DEFINITELY A DIFFERENT SPIN ON DARK ROMANCE The Dark Romance series are games that seem to be either hit or miss for me and Ashville seems closer to the miss mark. Although the game is not bad it does seem rather mediocre and is rather what I expect from this developer. Sometimes this team surprises me but for the most part it is “play one, then you’ve played all. There not much new here, except perhaps the creative ways they’ve set up for us to find needed items. The premise of the Dark Romance games is that we switch between playing lovers but in this case since it involves two different time periods it looks like we are switching between characters who are leaving notes for each other in a diary. The bottom line here is that I haven’t played the entire game as I’ve found it a bit boring and, have I mentioned mediocre? There was nothing here that really held my attention and gave me the urge to play longer than I did. In fact, I wasn’t involved enough in the game to want to finish the demo. Perhaps, like everyone else, I am simply bored with being in a virtual lock down. Granted this is an ideal time to play a great game but Dark Romance Ashville, isn’t going to be that game. I think I am going to have to browse back into my purchase history and replay an oldie but goody. In closing, I will leave you with one additional comment. Please play the demo because you might find something more interesting in Dark Romance Ashville than I could find. Happy gaming. Stay safe and stay healthy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3.5 Stars I haven't finished it yet but I thought I'd give a few initial thoughts. I won't bother with all the details as others do it far better than I. Gameplay bowls along quite nicely and the graphics are fine. As for the story, which involves changing character and timeframe, because you're so often sidetracked with puzzles etc, I did find I was asking myself "Who am I? What year is it? Why am I here and why does everybody hate me?" so a lot of it was a bit lost on me. Of course, there is the inevitable lack of logic; for example, my sister has just fallen into a sinkhole so off I go to the bowling alley to make a cup of coffee for a fortune teller. I think my own sister would have something to say about that! One thing puzzles me and this is not restricted just to this game. Why do I have to get anything special to shoo a crow away? Has anybody ever met a crow who doesn't fly off unless you lob a firecracker or something at them? Yes, I know I'm being very picky and very grumpy. There is nothing wrong with this game and it will pass the time quite amiably while we're all stuck indoors. Give it a go at least.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please leave Dark Romance the way it was! Not a good addition to the series at all. Slow and boring. Only played the demo, won't be buying this one. I have been replaying old games currently on the Dark Romance series and this one doesn't come close at all. Please developers stop messing with the games. The series were popular and much better rated. Have not been buying games since the new Big Fish came about.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't finish the demo Another over colorized offering from Domini, with a nonsensical story, dizzying removes between scenes and I'm not spraying stray dogs with a fire hose, you monsters. I was trying to keep an open mind; I want to see this developer improve because they did put out a couple of games in the past that were worth some time. But this is another nope. It's not a good sign when you're wondering if you're more bored or annoyed and in quarantine even. Please try it yourself though.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trial: Old Development. Poor Dialogue. Bobbing Characters. The story seemed to move forward. Characters are nicely designed but move back and forth which is distracting and annoying. Turned music off. Sounds are horrible. Clunks and dings when you click on something. Hidden Object designs are nicely done but game styles are either confusing or boring. Mini games...call it a day on those old repeated dead games. Continuity is strange, dialogue made me shake my head. Drive down a road and it starts to crack up. How original? Gas station is deserted with ONE old sleeping owner, but background voices drone on indicating there is a crowd...somewhere? Open the door and bats or birds fly out. Later travel back to 1985 and traffic noises and horns...no traffic. WHO writes this stuff, who continues to develop OLD tired designs, WHO overlooks the player's satisfaction. Do I need to say more. I couldn't finish this. It was like really stepping back in time and I found it boring along with lots of back and forth and absolute silly tasks. You give it a trial run. Make your own decision. Not for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing like Dark Romance series This didn't stick to the Dark Romance stories at all. Would not recommend if you're a fan of the series.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will not be purchasing this game Since this review is based on the demo only, I can only give you my impression of that portion of the game. This is one of the worst of the Dark Romance series. But except for Curse of Bluebeard, all have been pretty grim. The demo itself contains enough of all the same old tasks and searches that I can't imagine what the rest of the game may be like. The story is fairly interesting but is not well developed in the demo and this is not a "romance" game. The premise seems to be that two people fifteen years apart in time manage to find a way to communicate with each other and attempt to save the town from the greedy mine developer. The developer acts on the basis that one never has enough gold and therefore he is making a sinkhole of the entire town. The graphics are different from the usual glaring colors of the other Dark Romance games and are easier on the eyes. No more bright emerald greens and ruby reds covering everything. This is one aspect of the game I found pleasing but not excellent. As for the story, I hope it becomes more fleshed out as the game progresses past the demo, but I am not going to buy it to find out. The HOP's and mini games are nothing different from what we have seen before. This game isn't worthy for a rainy day or escape from COVID19. All I can say however is for you to try it. Others have given it 5 star ratings so they must have found something noteworthy about it. Stay safe friends.
