Ancient Jewels: Babylon is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An enjoyable and challenging M3 Please don't be put off by the ho-hum graphics and the less than compelling building we are supposed to be restoring. This game has a lot to offer. The game-play is flawless: the tiles fall fast and smoothly, they are very easy to distinguish from each other, you can move tiles while tiles are falling, and there are lots of things going on. You need to really focus to create the useful bonuses and then get them to explode in the right places. I play on timed mode and there is enough challenge to make it interesting. One reviewer said this game is like all the others but I disagree; there are a number of obstacles I haven't seen before and the way the bonuses work is a little unusual as well. I also like the sound effects because while you are focusing on one area the bonuses (like extra time) are happening in another area and the sounds tell you what is going on. It has been quite a while since we got a new and different M3 and I am grateful for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice game! I enjoyed playing this game. A pleasant change from the doom and gloom themes of the genre. Bright, easy but somewhat challenging, doesn't drag on and on, and light. Good graphics. No gliches playing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dust Off Those Strategy Skills for this Match 3 game and let the fun begin. It's a real treat, for me, after all the underwhelming Match 3 games we've been getting for too long. It's amazing how much the quality has fallen in this genre. Ancient Jewels: Babylon is a big step up! I really enjoyed the demo and snatched it up, pronto! The graphics are nice and sharp, there are 120 levels of bright jewels to keep you busy, the power-ups are great, the fun obstacles are a good challenge. A different goal must be met in each level in order to win. If playing in Timed Mode, you must replay the level if you fail to meet that goal. I was saved from that, as I played the demo in Relaxed Mode. The coins you collect will be used to restore the Ancient Temple. All the features worked easily and there were no stalls or tech issues. Good, quick response which is essential in Match 3 games. I haven't bought one in over a year, I am looking forward to this one based on the demo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Match 3 worth my time What!!! Are you doing to me "BF"? 2 games 2 days running I buy, can we go for a hat trick? You (this is so far) won't get bored with this game as the power-ups make sure of that, as long as you pay close attention to what's on the board and click on the right gems to get them power-guys. Great sounds, smooth, (*ha!ha!* that is till you hit an "awesome" power-up) bright graphics. The very best for me (and others as thought at the times we think alike) the boards don't move, I hate that! Why do we have this thing with tinkling gems, yep that's in here as well. OK stop reading go load the demo and make your own decision.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked It A Lot I really liked this game a lot. It reminded me of some of the older Match 3 games before they all became cartoon characters and limited moves games. It was challenging and fun. One star off as I like to choose the upgrades to The Temple rather than have them give you 3 at a time and some of those were cheesy such as the palm trees or the Lion Statues which you could not even make out. Other than that I loved the game and played all the way through on timed. I did run out of time on a few of the levels and had to replay them so you can't dilly dally around you have to get those boards cleared!! :) .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than I expected I thought this would be a nice, easy game, maybe even a bit boring. It turned out to be enjoyable, challenging, and fun. The only part I don't like are the spider webs, which try to tie up the board unless you can eliminate them first. I haven't seen another project to build after the first one, though, so I hope there are more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a good M3 this is a good M3. i re-built the temple in less than 100 of the 1420 levels and after that i only gained points. so i just uninstalled it. when they challenge was gone so was i. i enjoyed the story and earning stars to re-build the temple, though. you have a certain goal to get to to finish the levels. i played on relaxed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Ole M3 Finally, an M3 that not only plays well, nice and smooth and allows quick matching, but allows us to play in relaxed, timed or limited moves mode which should be standard in every M3 game but sadly, isn't. I played the demo in timed mode and that offered me just the right level of challenge -- there were a couple of boards I had to replay because I ran out of time. I agree with another reviewer, the game is somewhat reminiscent of Cradle of Rome, a long ago favourite of mine. You earn stars that convert to money in order to restore and add to your ancient-themed temple. The power-ups, obstacles and sound effects are appealing -- a buy for me. I highly recommend you give the demo a try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SURE BEATS YESTERDAY'S GAME! At first, I wasn't crazy about this Match 3 game because of the automatic powerups on the board. I played in Timed Mode and by the time I reached level 13, I had to replay the level 3 times to progress because I ran out of time, so this is no walk in the park, easy-breezy kind of game here folks, This is a challenging game with tons of obstacles, I even liked the clinking noises it made when I matched the jewels. You can play in a Relaxed, Timed, or Limited Moves Mode (unlike yesterday's Match 3 Game developer) and there are 120 levels. You can enable the High Detail graphics, and enable/disable the Show Hints feature as well. BTW: this is the 4th game in this series so hopefully, BF will offer those previous games too! This reminded me of the Cradle of Rome game, and there were a few boards that were nearly identical to the ones from CoR. When you make large matches, you'll receive a powerup on the board that must be matched with 2 other identical colored jewels to detonate. There is also a Hammer to remove a single jewel and a Shuffle icon located at the bottom of the board that recharge when you make matches of 4 or more jewels. Powerups appear in the same color as the Jewel that was originally matched: *Bomb: Receive a color-specific Bomb when you make a Match 5 to destroy adjacent jewels & obstacles. *Hourglass: Receive extra time of Moves when you make a T-shaped match. *Lightning: Receive lightning when you make an L-shaped match that will destroy several random jewels. *Horizontal or Vertical Line Busters: receive either a horizontal or vertical line buster (depending on the original match direction) when you match 5 jewels in a vertical or horizontal direction. *Cross Burst: Receive a Cross Burst when you make a match of 6 or 7 jewels to destroy everything in a vertical & horizontal line. There are some typical Obstacles, such as Wooden Crates, Chains, and double-Chains, and Frozen Jewels or Coins, as well as the usual Stone Cells, Gold Cells, Red Cells, and Tan Cells that require multiple Matches to remove them. But there are also unique Obstacles, such as Locked Jewels, Jewels that are Frozen and Chained, or Jewels trapped in Crates that require multiple, adjacent matches or matches of the same colored jewel that is trapped within. Coins are collected when you make adjacent matches (those can be frozen, chained, or trapped within crates, some have multiple obstacles) and Ancient Artifacts must be dropped off the board by making matches underneath them. Each level has different goals that you must achieve to win the level, if you run out of time or moves before completing the level goals, you'll have to replay the level, unless you are playing in the Relaxed Mode! You may have to remove all Stone Slabs, earn a Specified Amount of Points, Destroy a Specified Number of a Specified Jewel, Collect a Specified Amount of Coins or collect a Specified Number of Ancient Artifacts. Most levels have at least 2 Level Goals. Once you have collected enough Coins, you will be taken to the Ancient Temple where you can purchase Upgrades that will restore the Temple. The restoration upgrades are unique and they are designed to encourage you to keep playing to see the progress. The Ancient Temple is a continuous, live-action scene with tiny Egyptian workers buzzing around like busy bees as they stir up puffs of sand and debris to construct masterpiece restorations. This is how an upgrade scenario should be, it sure beats seeing a building appear out of thin air with pink sparkles and comic-book cartoon characters that move toward the screen like a stick puppet to pretend-speak a conversation, doesn't it? Rated 3 out of 5 by from It is a basic M3 and just ok This game is a stock standard M3. Match jewels, fill bonuses and build a city to the side. There is nothing novel or exciting but at least it has 3 modes of play relax, moves and timed. You are charged with collecting a certain amount of a particular colour or so many points on each board. There are bonuses such as shuffle, hammer, bombs etc to help you on your way. I found the graphics quite lack luster on the city. I also found at times the game 'played itself' more than I would like rather making me feel like I wasn't really in control sometimes. I would be busy planning my moves when the board would suddenly explode as I guess tiles hit the bombs on their fall. It was actually distracting. I also had a little trouble locating a tiles that I had not gotten rid of ..a bit of scanning required to find the last tiles I had left. But it ran smoothly, the money came fairly easily, you can pick levels to repeat if you fail from the menu, and the tiles are easily distinguished from each other. Its just a bit boring..no excitement or novel gameplay going on really. Try the demo, but I need more to impress me than this.
