Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! This is based on completion of the game in casual mode. This game came out in 2011 and it shows -- there isn't a map and there is a whole lot of back and forth -- but that's the only thing wrong with this game. I absolutely loved it! This is a story of a couple out at sea in a small boat. Somehow the guy falls over board and ends up washed ashore on a small island which seems to be deserted. There are lots of diaries to read and some pretty creepy tales. In lieu of the map, there is a great hint system that gives free directional hints. Regular hints (not the directional ones) take about a minute to reload. There are plenty of HOS and you visit them multiple times. Even though you visit them more than once doesn't mean they're easy -- not by a mile. The scenes are kind of mono-toned, the lists are very long, and the items are well blended in. In a few cases, even after using the hint, I really had a hard time making out the item -- I just clicked in the middle of the hint. I really wish more games had these types of HOS. I didn't care much for the music and turned it down as well as the background sounds. There are no voice overs. The directional hint button really saved this game from being so hard that nobody would want to play it. I got really confused moving through the fog but the hint got me through. It's a spooky story and I really didn't expect the ending. I'm planning to play the sequel next and hope it's as good as this one. I've demoed a lot of duds lately so this was refreshing and I get to write a good review. Please play the demo first and read some reviews to make an informed decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great challenging game! I have played this game 3 times now and this is one of my favorites! Twisted Lands; Insomniac is great also! While playing this game you do have to think, which I love and the games coming lately are lacking in regards to being challenging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Twisted Storyline! I thought the storyline of this game was great! It must be difficult for developers to come up with fresh material, but they nailed it this time. A surprise ending that's for sure. I miss the ambiance of searching around a spooky town or mansion without all the bells and whistles. Just you and the elements. While there's a lot of back and forth in this game (no map), you go from scene to scene easily. The skill level was average yet this game was fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Twisted Lands - Insomniac Great game. It was as if the developers really thought what would make it a bit easier, without ruining the game. I liked the way the hint button steered me in the right direction. The hidden object segments were clear (not fuzzy.) The music, relaxing. Lots of places to explore. Yes, it was a long enough game. Although any really good game should never end! The hint system in this game is the best I have ever played with, I truly beleive that is what made the game enjoyable for me. I hate when you find something and youv'e forgotten where to use it. The ending could have been better, but I am guessing that there is a longer "collectors edition" which I didn't purchase. That probably had a better ending. All in all a great game, no complaints, not one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY....an HO game I bought and didn't delete!! I've deleted SO many HO games lately I was about to give up. I'm glad I tried this one. I actually did get caught up in it. Some HO games make the objects SO small or hard to find that I don't have fun....this one didn't do that. The objects are fairly easy to find....I like that so I can get on with it. The Hint button is very helpful in telling you where to go next without actually "using" up your hint....some games I've tried sort of leave me hanging and running all over the place trying to figure out where in the heck to go next until I just get frustrated and delete them. This one lets you know just where to go in each scene.....you may see 2 or 3 arrows, but just click the Hint button and it will tell you which direction to take. There are a few "gloomy" things in there, but that's expected if you get shipwrecked and don't know where you are. I'm not going to write a lot here because I'm not really good at writing them....I never know what to say. But other reviewers have already said a lot of the same things I would say.....I found this game VERY fun and relaxing to play. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the Spookiest Games I've played I just finished this game and I must say the ending is quite surprising, well at least for me anyway. HO scenes are nicely done, although I found them abit on the dark side so sometimes it will make small items difficult to spot. You need to go back & forth to different locations for HOS, or to use an item found in HOS on something, which was quite confusing for me to keep track of which item is to be used where, because you do get a lot of items in your inventory and you will forget where you saw that location that you're suppose to use that item. I do use the hint button quite alot to make sure I'm on the right track when I've found an item that I think is supposed to be used in a particular location, I will move toward that location and will click the hint button, if it indicates the same direction, then I know I'm on the right track. Over this is a very fun game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game in all respects!!!(don't let the intro throw you) I had forgotten I bought and played this game a long while back until recently seeing the sequel.....How did I miss it??!!!!(duh) I have Insomnia.....the sequel but haven't played yet. I did a refresher with Shadow Town and was reminded how incredible this game was!! I'm anxious to play the sequel. Hopefully the graphics (very crisp, clear and draw one in) The hint is great if you lose direction which can happen in this game as there is a lot of going around the island etc. I really cannot find fault in this game in anyway. I've moved away from pure HOG , love the adventure, story and puzzles with HOs tossed in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great HOG and storyline I purchased this game after reading comments & reviews for the follow-up to this game, Twisted Lands: Insomniac. Fishies recommended playing Lost Town first because it ties into Insomniac. As always, excellent advice! This game is a great H0G adventure game. There are just a few puzzles and I found them rather difficult. So difficult I skipped most of them because I just couldn't figure them out; this is rare for me. This did not take away from the fun of the game at all, because like I said the puzzles are few. The graphics are great, the music is suspenseful and not irritating. The game is a long one. A great buy that's worth the $$. I'm DLing Insomniac now and from what I've read, I know I won't be disappointed. I always trust the Fishies' advice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best! Twisted Lands: Insomniac is the sequel to this game, so I highly recommend that one along with this. These 2 and Stray Souls are my favorites in the Hidden Object genre. Great stories, they are dark and draw you in well. The art is great, nice and crisp, no problems with items being too obscure to recognize like in some games. This is also one of the few that I would say it's pretty worth it to get the collector's edition for the extra game play. It's not a whole lot of extra gameplay, but it was enough for me to feel it was worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game! That's a very interesting game! The storyline is great. The graphics are crisp and the HOS clear. The mini-games are not too difficult. There is a loooooot of walking back and forth but the hint system is very good, so you don't spend time wondering where to go next or asking yourself where you can use an object (sometimes I just didn't remember where I had seen a clue). The gamelength is good, and when you're in it, you will not want to make even a coffee break ;-).
