Mystery Trackers: Black Isle is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What happened to Elf? I fully enjoyed this game. It was a challenge from start to finish. The HOPS are traditional and require careful searching. The mini games are varied and new to me. As a veteran Big FIsh player, I appreciated something different. Graphics are crisp and beautifully rendered. The story line is logical and engaging with a positive ending. I recommend this game! Good job developers. PS. I love the Elf character and was glad he made an appearance. Would have liked to see him participate more as part of the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVELY PREQUEL TO SOMETHING Game took almost 7 hours to complete. It’s mostly adventure with a lot of locks and doors to unlock. So you have to find a lot of puzzle pieces involving locks and keys to move forward into the next area. Moderate number of interactive HOS, in which you frequently use an item that is already included in your inventory from prior acquisitions. Not many HOS are blessedly very crowded, but some items are very well concealed. As the story progressed, I found myself feeling sorry for the protagonist; there are hints about how he and others in his predicament as a paranormal were previously mistreated by a doctor. We don’t find out in this story about what that entailed. I didn’t find a journal, only notes. NOTE RE: MAP: At first I thought it was useless. Then I realized it is multi-layered and is indeed interactive. On the main map, click on any of the main parts of the island and you’ll get a more detailed map, with pending activities and somewhat detailed tasks to be performed noted. The HINT system is extremely helpful. It will tell you what to do, where, with what and why. I like how it’s worded – like a friend giving advice without pointing fingers at how unwise you sometimes can be. Moderate number of locations which are very nicely drawn and colored. So even if you chose not to use the map, you won’t get lost. Graphics are crisp and lovely; animation is terrific. There are a lot of activities to do. Puzzles not connected with doors and locks are refreshing and a pleasure to play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No negatives for me.. The game was very good. The story was not really as gripping as the artwork and the puzzles (most too hard for me) were plentiful and different. Usually I like a story that is outstanding, but this one had other things that gripped me. There were HOS, but not so many you got sick of them, and some had a twist, like needing something from your inventory. It was not a bunch of "find this key, and that one", but had varied and interesting things to do. The game was pretty long, and the map let you jump to some places. It was a good length, the ending was satisfactory, and I had a lot of fun playing this one. It never seemed kind of dumb to me, and I thought the graphics were extremely well done. I did wonder what all the owls were about, but I am glad I did not get CE because I hate looking for those extraneous items. I am glad, at least, I came here and found out what they were. LOL. No way you can be disappointed or bored with this game. Plenty of interesting tasks and good hints to help you find them. 5 stars all the way, for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Fun I Loved this game. It has everything I like in a pc game....fun challenging puzzles and hidden object puzzlers, great graphics, and good store line. Sound effects with ocean waves and rain are spellbinding and most of all how long it took me to complete was Great. I love games that go on and on. Thanks Developers for a job well done......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good game This one is better. Has a good flow, good graphics but no voice over. The HOS are good and the puzzles are pretty much easy. The CE has things to find for enjoyment and you get rewards on others. Hint button is ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the dog! Elf, the dog, was most helpful and so cute. Storyline good. Great graphics; HOS clear and mostly interactive. VOS and characters good. Nice hint system if you are stuck, tells you what to do. Puzzles were hard, had to skip a few. Sort of a macabre love story. 7 hours casual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mystery/Adventure This was a very well made game, almost as good as the Mystery Case Files series. The live actors integrated pretty well with the backgrounds so you couldn't really tell there was a green screen (like you can in the Ravenhearst series...just saying). The storyline was interesting and the puzzles were pretty unique. I loved Elf the dog!!!! So adorable and very clever idea. I assume you get to keep him after the game since he's still in your inventory at the end lol. The map was definitely of help because the area is large and there's lots of places to go to. I didn't play the CE and I think maybe in that one you do something with all the owls you keep seeing, but in the SE (the one I played) you still see all the owls but I didn't get what the connection was. Oh well I still liked seeing them, I love owls :) The only thing I wish we could have had was a journal to keep up with all the clues because there are quite a large number of tasks you need to complete and sometimes you wouldn't find the items you need until like an hour later. I had to keep pushing the hint button to remember where to go! Also, I didn't really like the way the game ended. SPOILERS********** You spend the entire game trying to save Sarah from the man and it ends with her still with him. Made me feel like I wasted my time to be honest. But it was still great game and I had fun playing it. This was my first time playing a Mystery Trackers game I'll definitely play more in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The differences between CE & SE of this excellent HOPA! Intro already holds you ... Sarah, a reporter, disappeared near the Black Isle Hotel, taken by a masked man. Gorgeous graphics, appealing and exciting plot, immersive atmosphere, excellent sound, totally appropriate to the story. Characters that create curiosity in this very well-developed game. Highly interactive game, in all the places there is much to do and collect, including HOS, that despite being easy, are enjoyable - you need to use inventory items. The amount of HOS is very well balanced and in different locations. Several great mini games, some known but with something extra, and some new too. 3 difficulty levels - I played advanced - no sparkles, hint fills slowly. Hint is very helpful - good assistance to the next step. It has a map too. - The differences between CE & SE: -SE does not have extra game play! In CE you have to collect 50 owls along the way - and is not always easy to find - to enter in a bonus game - another chapter with new locations, not too long but very enjoyable. -SE does not have the Strategy Guide. -SE does not have the achievements area - 21 frames come up as you progresses on the game. Well, I liked to collect along the way (owls) and the bonus is worthwhile, so I decided to purchase the CE for being more complete - worth the price. Although not very challenging, it is extremely entertaining and is already in my collection!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whoa! What a Game! What a great surprise! Another great game from Elephant Games. Love the casual, advanced or hardcore modes. This game has Wow graphics and live action. Sound is spooky and appropriate for the game. One of the best parts is for the HOG scenes, you sometimes use an item from inventory to help you along - what a great idea. There is an info button on the puzzles which helps if you get stuff. Definitely a buy for me today!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I want that dog! Just when I thought nothing would ever beat a crowbar along comes Elf the superdog. I won't give away spoilers but you'll know by the end of the game. Best game I've played in a long time. Graphics superb but don't slow your gameplay (I hate when the cleverness gets in the way#. Music there but not irritating. HOS fab - love that you have to fetch stuff from your inventory to complete tasks whithin them. Mini games taxing but not frustratingly so. Think I only had to skip one. Thankfully you can teleport around using the map because the back and forth was immense #that's a good thing from my point of view# Moving between scenes didn't lag too badly either. Thumbs up for another Mystery Tracker success. I didn't get the CE edition and I wonder if the owls grew in significance in the extras cos it really felt that I should have been collecting them #and i love collecting nonsense whilst completing thirty virtual marathons) Any chance I can keep the dog?
