Customer Reviews
Braveland is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quick Little Strategy Game This game is similar to Heroes of Might and Magic, as another reviewer noted, although very simplified. A couple of reasons it got 3 stars: A) The game is very static. Meaning there's really only one way to go, to progress in the game. There's no real freedom to move around, or explore, or make decisions of any kind; it is a pretty basic, bare bones kind of game (no extra bells or whistles) and B) The game seems short. I only played the demo, and haven't bought it yet, but I have progressed pretty far in the game. Your hero travels to different points along a map, either collecting units for his army, fighting, getting bonuses or buying units/equipment/upgrades. There is a basic story line, but you can click through the dialogue if you are only interested in the strategy. Once you start a fight, the fighting area zooms in and becomes a grid, with your units on one side, and the enemy units on the other (much like HOMM). There are melee and ranged units, and fighting is turn based, with each unit getting one turn per round. Order of attack depends on the unit, for both sides (some units are faster than others) . Some units have special abilities, which can be used at the time of your choosing, although there is a cooldown period. There is also an amulet, which triggers when enough enemies have attacked you (collecting fury), and has a special attack. The battle is over when all of one army's units are destroyed. If you win, you can progress to the next place (I assume you get a chance to try again when you lose.) Simple, and straightforward game. For all of it's drawbacks, I'm still going to use a freebie coupon on this game, and buy it, because I enjoy this type of game play. I am so tired of the same HOP, Match 3, and Time Management games, that I am happy to have a short diversion, ready for my next afternoon off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Got Boring Too Quickly This is a game that you're going to love or hate. Available in Easy, Normal and Hard modes of difficulty. There is too much dialog in between battles in my opinion, a gang of bandits has plundered all of your food supply for the winter so you are a brave warrior tracking down the bandits to make them pay for what they stole. Other pheasants, archers, peons etc join in your posse and help battle the bandits, each with their own set of skills, some of the people who join you have skills that they are willing to teach to your people. When you finally get to the battle, you must strategically decide who each man will battle according to skills and lives available. The characters are on a honeycomb grid and you move the characters to the bandit you want him to attack. You can move your character over the character that is dead and has dropped money but your opponent can do this as well. You can purchase upgrades such as endurance in a battle or stronger attacks and you can purchase more men with the gold you receive. Each character as well as your opponents will have different skills, different endurances and different ways of moving so you must read about each character's skills. For me this game became monotonous too quickly, but you may very well love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 20 Questions Why are these game developers pushing out games en masse with no regard for quality over quantity? Don't treat your customers like fools, assuming we will go for anything. This game is not well done...at least its not a 2 hour game crammed with HOG scenes. Actually I cant say its not. I only lasted 40 painful minutes into this. What do the peasants do? What do the archers do? Why is this or that action not available while others are? Why is the game not providing us with that info? Where are the settings for sound & screen size? Where are the quality assurance people at Big Fish? Does this game mean that I could set our kitten on the computer & have him churn out a game that may be sold online to unsuspecting players? I'd suggest, if youre looking for what this game purported to be that you check out some of the long, long more professional games that may not be found round these parts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing special Although I'm a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic and similar games I didn't enjoy the trial time of this game - in fact I stopped playing after 30 minutes because this game is just too boring and doesn't bring ab anything special. You have to click through boring dialogues before every fight, the pace of the game is way too slow and imho the game isn't worth the money at all. Maybe it is interesting for beginners or people who are new to this genre but I still wouldn't recommend it at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No windowed mode? Seriously? Didn't even make it as far as the other reviewers because there's no windowed mode. Only options were volume and difficulty. Not even one to turn off music while allowing other sounds. What kind of game does that?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Again, Big Fish?? I didn't think you could come up with yet another lame game so quickly after the sweet shop one Big Fish, but you proved me wrong. It's slow, FAR too much "dialogue" between scenes, FAR too much loading after every step....boring as could be!
