New York, 1955. It's become dangerous in the city. The mafia is trying to seize power. But recently, a new force appeared. A far more terrible force. Over the last few days, five mafia bosses have disappeared in mysterious circumstances. A strange liquid and a butterfly were found at the scenes of the disappearances. But this isn't what scared the citizens... Children started to disappear in the city. All of them drew exactly the same butterflies before they disappeared. This forced detectives and journalists alike to start their investigations.

New York Mysteries: Secrets of the Mafia Collector's Edition is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 98.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strange Green Liquid and a Butterfly It's a mystery. What does five missing Mafia bosses and missing children have in common? I Loved the T-Rex in the museum with Laura James and had the wallpaper up for a few days along with the Statue of Liberty wallpaper. I liked all the butterflies in the scenes. You have to write things down on your own so be prepared. The gameplay just flowed and you picked things up and you knew where it went. I got a hand cramp for playing too long. The underground railway is so cool. I liked a whole lot of the mini-games. I liked the matching. The hops are too much like puzzles so I had to treat them as such. I like hops with a list better. No custom settings. The bonus chapter Bishop called for me and I need to help him. Find 35 phantom items (morphs). Find 36 collectibles like the Statue of Liberty and others. It has 8 Chapters + bonus. Relay 26 mini-games, 5 puzzles, 10 cut scenes and 6 music. Wallpaper 9 and concept art 19.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Game! I can't say enough about this game. I'm a person who is annoyed by cut scenes and cinematics, but everything in this game works perfectly together. The puzzles and hidden object games are very well done, and there are lots and lots of them. The hidden object games are not the usual find this and that, but interactive and more fun. Hours and hours of play time, great scenes, and all in all, just about a perfect game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great change of pace... This game has a decent story to it, and it doesn't involve demons or amulets--yea! Something a little different makes a refreshing change. This is a big game and took me two full evenings to complete, so pretty long as well. There is a jump map which makes it easier to get from one area to another. The puzzles were varied and all offered a bit of a challenge (not a cake walk like so many other recent games) without being horribly difficult. I never even had to peek at a walkthrough. Thank goodness there are no keys left in the door-poke it through-land it on a paper and pull it under gags or any of the countless done-to-death obstacles, except for the fact that everything is locked. The instructions were very clear for each one. The progressive hidden object scenes were wonderful, and possibly the best thing in this game in that they were thoroughly integrated into the world and everything you pick up has a use, so it makes sense. Super! Not a single junk pile! The music was subtle and not overly repetitive. I never felt the need to turn it off, and the music fit the mood of the scenes. The translation to English is pretty good, but at one point you pick up something it says is a knife and it isn't. Think about what it looked like when you found it, before you picked it up, and you'll be right on. This plays very much like an adventure game, but where those are often rather lonely, here you get to interact with a good number of other characters. All the voice overs are well done and fit the characters. The only complaint I can muster is that zoomed in scenes don't zoom back out when you're done with them, making you wonder if you missed something. Still, that's a minor flaw I can live with when the rest of the game is so fun. I have not played any other games by this developer, but I will certainly be looking for more from them. I highly recommend this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Story This game is one of my favorites. The graphics were outstanding, the storyline was just right, the HOS were awesome and the overall game play was wonderful. Thanks for creating a game with some great backbone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good. This is very good game from developer five-BN. Sold look, good smooth gameplay and a very likeable main character. The only fault is that the game takes place in 1950s NYC but doesn't always look like 1950s NYC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Expected This is a beautiful game with top-notch voice-acting and truly original gameplay (really, I didn't need to oil a darn door until deep into the bonus chapter of the CE!) and cinematic cutscenes. Also, SURPRISE! A racially diverse cast of characters! If you're looking for a traditional pile of trash to dig through, this isn't your game. All the HOPs were more subtle and nuanced...and a lot of fun. The puzzles were challenging to a degree...I mean, they must have been, I don't think I've ever played a HOG for more that 8 hours straight. I had zero expectations (seriously, what a dumb name for a game), and I was blown away. Get this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a challenging game!!! Purchased this game based on reviews and playing NY Mysteries High Voltage, which I absolutely loved. I am almost at the end of the game, but took a break to look at the reviews, and decided to give my review since I was enjoying it so much. This is the most challenging game I have played since 2008 (Return to Ravenhearst -- my absolute favorite!!!). This game is not for the faint of heart. It requires real patience, serious deduction, and serious logic. The graphics and storyline are great. The map is the best and saves me hours of hopping around, particularly since it lets me know where the collectibles are. I love skimming around watching for the hand as much as playing the game! It is like playing a game within a game. I really enjoy how the HOs are done. I recognize many of the puzzles, but they are interactive and all play out in unexpected ways that are quite challenging. Alas, while I love the challenge of a methodically logical puzzle and will not let it conquer me, I finally found a game where I actually had to skip 3 puzzles and have not even finished playing the game -- that is how challenging this game is, and that is playing on the easy level!. There has never been a puzzle I could not solve, so I could not believe I actually hit the skip button, but I knew I would become obsessed and not finish the game any time soon. This is why I gave the fun factor a 4. Fortunately, I know I can go back and replay the puzzles at my leisure because I actually enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles. Then, as Sherlock Holmes says, "the game will be afoot", when I replay the game again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is how Adventure games should be! One of the very best things I love about this game is the fact that there isn't one single same old boring and tedious standard HOP! All of the HOPs in this game are of the new progressive kind.I really wish every single developer developing games marked "Adventure" would follow this template. I also wish BF would quit marking every single game as both "Adventure" and "Hidden Object". This game should only be marked "Adventure"! I have been playing BF games for over 3 years and never once met an old standard, point-n-click, pixel hunting HOP that I liked. I hated every one of them. They take away from the 'Adventure', they're boring and tedious and there's absolutely now challenge whatsoever. They turn the game into a job. This game breaks away from the old boring standard game play and dares to be a true and fun playing 'Adventure' game. I wish there was a way that I could find other games similar to this one on the BFG website. Unfortunately they mark all adventure games as "Adventure" and "Hidden Object" so you get the same list of games no matter what you choose. I definitely recommend this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT GAME!!!! This is the game to play!! Loved this one! Everything is good fun! Liked the investigation method, gathering evidence and then presenting it. Game is long and your interest is held. Some puzzles are rough; works your brain. Lots of collectibles. Bonus is good and long, as well. No mistake about it, this is a winner!!
